This study investigated the diagnostic efficiencies of two assays for the detection of complex: (1) the reciprocal-flow real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based GeneSoC assay and (2) the real-time PCR based GENECUBE MTB assay with quenching probe. These assays were performed for stored clinical samples and results were compared with the confirmed results based on culture and COBAS TaqMan MTB assay. A total of 53 samples (20 confirmed positives and 33 confirmed negatives) were included in the performance analysis.

Background: New diagnostic tools have emerged to assist the traditional diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion (MPE), such as high fluorescence cells (HFc) and tumor markers (TMs), determined by clinical laboratory automated pleural fluid workup. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic ability of the combination of HFc and TMs for diagnosing MPE.
Methods: We recruited hospitalized patients with pleural effusion at Parc Taulí University Hospital.

Background: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene mutation testing is crucial for the administration of tyrosine kinase inhibitors to treat non-small cell lung cancer. In addition to traditional tissue-based tests, liquid biopsies using plasma are increasingly utilized, particularly for detecting T790M mutations. This study compared tissue- and plasma-based EGFR testing methods.

Few cases of tenofovir resistance have been reported, and the appropriate treatment for such cases remains unclear. We aimed to share a case of a chronic hepatitis B mono-infected patient with potential tenofovir resistance who required combined lamivudine and tenofovir therapy to achieve adequate viral suppression. The patient's viral load (plasma) was monitored using the cobas® hepatitis B virus Test on the cobas® 6800 system.

: The current gold standards for diagnosing acute kidney injury (AKI) are an increase in serum creatinine and a decrease in urine output, which are inadequate for rapid diagnosis. Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) is a 25-kDa protein produced and secreted by injured kidney tubule epithelial cells, and can serve as an early urinary biomarker for AKI. ProNephro AKI (NGAL) is an immunoassay for the quantitative determination of NGAL in urine (uNGAL) that recently received FDA clearance.
