Background: Metoclopramide, a dopamine antagonist employed for its antiemetic effects, can precipitate neuropsychiatric adverse effects, including extrapyramidal symptoms and, in a few instances, acute psychosis. Although there have been reports of metoclopramide-induced psychosis in elderly individuals, there is no documentation of such incidents in children as far as we are aware.
Case Presentation: This case report describes an 11-year-old girl with a history of mild intellectual disability and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, managed with 10 mg of methylphenidate daily.

Background: Dexmedetomidine and ketamine have long elimination half-lives in humans and have no clinically approved reversal agents. Methylphenidate enhances dopaminergic and noradrenergic neurotransmission by inhibiting reuptake transporters for these arousal-promoting neurotransmitters. Previous studies in rats demonstrated that intravenous methylphenidate induces emergence from isoflurane and propofol general anesthesia.

Background: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder in children, can be effectively alleviated by the herbal preparation Long Mu Qing Xin Mixture (LMQXM), but its mechanism has not been fully elucidated.
Objective: To scrutinize the potential pharmacological mechanisms by which LMQXM improves behavior in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR/NCrl).
Methods: The SHR/NCrl rats were randomly stratified into the model (SHR) group, the methylphenidate hydrochloride (MPH) group, and groups subjected to varying dosages of LMQXM into the medium dose (MD) group with a clinically effective dose, the low dose (LD) group with 0.

The spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) is a selectively bred animal strain that is frequently used to model attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) because of certain genetically determined behavioural characteristics. To test the hypothesis that the characteristically altered response to positive reinforcement in SHRs may be due to altered phasic dopamine response to reward, we measured phasic dopamine signals in the SHRs and Sprague Dawley (SD) rats using in vivo fast-scan cyclic voltammetry. The effects of the dopamine reuptake inhibitor, methylphenidate, on these signals were also studied.
