A radiographic survey was conducted to assess professional performance in restorative dentistry. Analysis of 629 proximal metallic margins of restorations revealed a significant level of imperfection. The discrepancies at the gingival margins were measured on a tracing of the restoration using a grid and a Boley gauge. The results were consistent with other data. Contributing factors which explain this phenomenon are offered as well as considerations for the profession regarding the review of care quality.

Objective: Evaluation of the accuracy of direct digitization of maxillary scans depending on the scanning strategy.
Materials And Methods: A maxillary model with a metal bar as a reference structure fixed between the second molars was digitized using the CEREC Primescan AC scanner (N = 225 scans). Nine scanning strategies were selected (n = 25 scans per strategy), differing in scan area segmentation (F = full jaw, H = half jaw, S = sextant) and scan movement pattern (L = linear, Z = zig-zag, C = combined).

In situ bone regeneration and vertical bone augmentation have been huge problems in clinical practice, always imposing a significant economic burden and causing patient suffering. Herein, MgZnYNd magnesium alloy rod implantation in mouse femur resulted in substantial subperiosteal new bone formation, with osteoimmunomodulation playing a pivotal role. Abundant macrophages were attracted to the subperiosteal new bone region and proved to be the most important regulation cells for bone regeneration.

This study aimed to investigate the release of metallic ions from cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloys fabricated by additive manufacturing (AM) for comparison with dental casting. Co-Cr alloys were fabricated via AM using selective laser melting (SLM) and electron beam melting (EBM) in powder-bed fusion. Polished and mechanically ground specimens were prepared.

Alveolar ridge resorption following tooth loss poses a significant challenge for successful dental implant placement. In cases of severe atrophy, bone augmentation is required to restore sufficient bone volume. This technical note outlines a detailed, stepwise surgical protocol for horizontal and vertical alveolar ridge augmentation using customized titanium mesh.
