Of 1,811 individuals sampled in a metropolitan community, 382 reported having a musculoskeletal complaint. Eighty-four percent of them had used an unconventional remedy within the previous 6 months. Most individuals used inexpensive, unharmful remedies such as exercise, prayer, and relaxation. This study indicates that people with musculoskeletal disorders often use unconventional remedies, but raises questions regarding the seriousness of this problem.

The fabrication of dual-quantum dot heterostructures offers a promising strategy to enhance the environmental remediation performance of photocatalysts. Herein, a BiWO-based Z-scheme heterojunction was constructed by incorporating carbonized polymer dots (CPDs) and CdS quantum dots (QDs) via a microwave-assisted solvothermal method. The 1 wt% CPDs/CdS QDs/BiWO (CCBW-1) composite achieved optimal Cr(VI) removal, reaching 97.

Mineral precipitation is ubiquitous in natural and engineered environments, such as carbon mineralization, contaminant remediation, and oil recovery in unconventional reservoirs. The precipitation process continuously alters the medium permeability, thereby influencing fluid transport and subsequent reaction kinetics. The diversity of preferential precipitation zones controls flow and transport efficiency as well as the capacity of mineral sequestration and immobilization.

Photocatalytic technology provides a vital pathway for the sustainable and efficient removal of environmental pollutants and energy conversion. However, enhancing the near-infrared (NIR) light absorption and utilization capabilities of photocatalysts has remained a significant challenge in this field. This paper presents a comprehensive review of recent developments in NIR-responsive photocatalysts.
