Chalcopyrite CuInSe2 (CIS) nanoparticles were synthesized in oleic acid, 1-octadecene, oleyl amine and tetraethylene glycol at temperature above 200 degrees C. Depending on the solvent used and reaction temperature, the obtained nanoparticles had different shapes, sizes, chemical compositions, and crystal and thermal properties. CIS powders synthesized in oleic acid, 1-octadecene and oleyl amine above 200 degrees C exhibited chalcopyrite structure. On the other hand, powders prepared in tetraethylene glycol contained a mixture of CIS and CuSe compounds. The CIS powder obtained in oleyl amine had a high thermal stability over 500 degrees C. CIS thin films prepared from nanoparticles were heat-treated in order to observe changes in their property. After 10 min heat-treatment at 500 degrees C, their crystal structure and chemical composition were slightly changed, and their band gap energies were ca. 1.01 eV except in the case of powders prepared in tetraethylene glycol.

To assess the chemo-immunomodulatory effects of doxorubicin-loaded cerium oxide nanoparticles coated with oleyl amine-linked cyclic RGDfK peptide (CeNP+Dox+RGD) to target both gliomas and its tumor microenvironment (TME) via integrin receptors. CeNP+Dox+RGD nanoparticles are synthesized by the sequential addition of cerium III chloride heptahydrate, beta-cyclodextrin, oleic acid, and F127 micelle (CeNP). Doxorubicin was then loaded into CeNPs and coated with oleyl amine-linked cyclic RGDfK peptide to form stable CeNP+Dox+RGD nanoparticles.

A polyamine water treatment agent was prepared with the film-forming amine (N-oleyl-1,3-propylenediamine) and the neutralizing amine (cyclohexanamine) under optimal conditions. The copper sulfate liquid drop experiment showed that a protective film was formed by the polyamine water treatment agent on carbon steel. The analyses of the polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of carbon steel indicated that the polyamine water treatment agent exhibited geometric effects, which could inhibit both anode and cathode reactions of carbon steel, and the corrosion inhibition effect of the polyamine water treatment agent showed an extreme-concentration phenomenon.

The study of many membrane enzymes in an aqueous medium is difficult due to the loss of their catalytic activity, which makes it necessary to use membrane-like systems, such as reverse micelles of surfactants in nonpolar organic solvents. However, it should be taken into account that the micelles are a simplified model of natural membranes, since membranes contain many different components, a significant part of which are phospholipids. In this work, we studied impact of the main phospholipids, phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), on activity of the membrane enzymes using galactonolactone oxidase from Trypanosoma cruzi (TcGAL) and L-galactono-1,4-lactone dehydrogenase from Arabidopsis thaliana (AtGALDH) as examples.

Apart from biocompatibility, ZnO quantum dots (QDs) are considered to be an efficient luminescence material due to their low cost and high redox potential. Here, we report the synthesis of ZnO QDs by using five different functionalizing ligands like mercaptoacetic acid (MAA), 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA), octadecene (ODE), ethylene glycol (EG), and oleyl amine (OLA) and fabricate their assemblies with graphene oxide (GO). We investigate the role of functionalizing ligands as a surface modifier of ZnO QDs for their attachment to GO.

CdS-based materials are extensively studied for photocatalytic water splitting. By incorporating Ag into CdS nanomaterials, the catalyst's charge carrier dynamic can be tuned for photo-electrochemical devices. However, photo-corrosion and air-stability of the heterostructures limit the photocatalytic device's performance.
