This review of differential mobility spectrometry focuses primarily on mass spectrometry coupling, starting with the history of the development of this technique in the Soviet Union. Fundamental principles of the separation process are covered, in addition to efforts related to design optimization and advancements in computer simulations. The flexibility of differential mobility spectrometry design features is explored in detail, particularly with regards to separation capability, speed, and ion transmission. 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Mass Spec Rev 35:687-737, 2016.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and debilitating autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS) in which a CNS-driven immune response destroys myelin, leading to wide range of symptoms including numbness and tingling, vision problems, mobility impairment, etc. Oligodendrocytes are the myelinating cells in the CNS, which are generated from oligodendroglial progenitor cells (OPCs) via differentiation. However, for multiple reasons, OPCs fail to differentiate to oligodendrocytes in MS and as a result, stimulating the differentiation of OPCs to oligodendrocytes is considered beneficial for MS.

Understanding the impact of gravity on daily upper-limb movements is crucial for comprehending upper-limb impairments. This study investigates the relationship between gravitational force and upper-limb mobility by analyzing hand trajectories from 24 healthy subjects performing nine pick-and-place tasks, captured using a motion capture system. The results reveal significant differences in motor behavior in terms of planning, smoothness, efficiency, and accuracy when movements are performed against or with gravity.

While a broad consensus about the first successful migration modern humans out of Africa seems established, the peopling of Arabia remains somewhat enigmatic. Identifying the ancestral populations that contributed to the gene pool of the current populations inhabiting Arabia and the impact of their contributions remains a challenging task. We investigate the genetic makeup of the current Yemeni population using 46 whole genomes and 169 genotype arrays derived from Yemeni individuals from all geographic regions across Yemen and 351 genotype arrays derived from neighboring populations providing regional context.

Seminal fluid provides for the carriage and nutrition of sperm, but also modulates immunity to prevent allo-rejection of sperm by the female. Immune suppression by seminal fluid has been associated with extracellular vesicles, originally termed prostasomes, which contain CD52, a glycosylated glycophosphoinositol-anchored peptide released from testicular epithelial cells. Previously, we reported that human T cell-derived CD52, bound to the danger-associated molecular pattern protein, high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), suppresses T cell function via the inhibitory sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin-10 (Siglec-10) receptor.

Objectives: This study aimed to elucidate the roles of Prrx1 and Prrx2, homeobox transcription factors, in tooth development and determine whether Prrx2 regulates pannexin 3 (Panx3) expression, which is important in preodontoblasts.
Methods: Tooth sections were prepared from 13.5-, 15.
