Venous hypertension of lesser circulation was used as a criterion for differential diagnosis of diffuse lesion of the myocardium and exudative pericarditis. In 57 patients (31 with diffuse myocardial lesion and 26 with exudative pericarditis) the results of assessment of common x-ray symptoms were compared with signs of venous hypertension in this disease. The presence or absence of venous hypertension in the recognition of exudate into the pericardial cavity was emphasized.
