Plant-based foods with low methionine contents have gained increasing interest for their potential health benefits, including neuroprotective effects. Methionine restriction (MR) linked to a plant-based diet has been shown to mitigate neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) through mechanisms that involve the gut microbiota. In this study, a 16-week MR diet (0.

Drug development for congenital toxoplasmosis is challenging since first-line therapy has a high rate of adverse effects and exhibits suboptimal efficacy. Bumped kinase inhibitors (BKIs), targeting protein kinases with small gatekeeper residues, have been found to be effective against . The efficacy of BKI-1748 administered later than 2 days post-infection (p.

Immunotherapy utilizes immune cells to target cancer and improves treatment outcomes with few side effects. Despite the effectiveness of immunotherapy, the limited availability of monocytes, which are essential for the differentiation of antigen-presenting cells, remains a major challenge. In this study, we developed a technique for inducing monocytes from hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells by using a serum-free (SF) medium supplemented with optimal concentrations of serum substitutes and cytokines.

Purpose Of Review: Mast cell activation is defined by activation of mast cells by varying stimuli with release of chemical mediators either through degranulation or release of de novo synthesized proteins or lipid mediators. Currently, tryptase measurement increase during symptomatic episodes is the most accepted biomarker measurement for mast cell activation. However, newer diagnostic tools including clinically available urinary mast cell mediators are noninvasive and can be more readily obtained compared to serum tryptase levels.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is one of the most common conditions affecting felines, yet the metabolic alterations underlying its pathophysiology remain poorly understood, hindering progress in identifying biomarkers and therapeutic targets. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive view of metabolic changes in feline CKD across conserved biochemical pathways and evaluate their progression throughout the disease continuum. Using a multi-biomatrix high-throughput metabolomics approach, serum and urine samples from CKD-affected cats ( = 94) and healthy controls ( = 84) were analyzed with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry.
