Aims: To investigate the potential risk factors for haemorrhage during suction curettage after uterine artery embolization (UAE) in the treatment of caesarean scar pregnancy (CSP).

Methods: A case-control study was executed including 35 patients with CSP and haemorrhage during suction curettage after UAE and 140 controls without haemorrhage. The data collected included gestational age, the distance between the gestational mass and the bladder, and the volume of vaginal bleeding.

Results: Six patients with UAE needed blood transfusions and two had a hysterectomy, while no patient in the control group needed these interventions. Multivariate analysis showed that both gestational age and the distance between the gestational mass and the bladder were associated with haemorrhage in the CSP group. The odds ratio (OR) of gestational age between cases and controls was 1.579 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.291-1.933), and the OR of the distance between the gestational mass and the bladder was 0.208 (95% CI 0.082-0.531).

Conclusion: Increased gestational age might be an important risk factor for haemorrhage during suction curettage after UAE in the treatment of patients with CSP, and a distance of >0.2 cm between the gestational mass and the bladder was protective against haemorrhage.

Micro/nano-scale robotic devices are emerging as a cutting-edge approach for precision intravascular therapies, offering the potential for highly targeted drug delivery. While employing micro/nanorobotics for stroke treatment is a promising strategy due to its ability to localize therapy and minimize drug dosage, current methods require prolonged treatment durations, increasing the risk of nerve tissue necrosis from extended hypoxia. Here a programmable colloidal microswarm capable of rapidly detaching blood clots from the vessel wall is developed, enabling swift recanalization without the need for complete clot degradation.

Background: In the intensive care unit (ICU), many patients are unable to communicate their pain through self-reporting or behaviors due to their critical care condition, mechanical ventilation, and medication (eg, heavily sedated or chemically paralyzed). Therefore, alternative pain assessment methods are urgently needed for this vulnerable patient population. The Nociception Level (NOL) index is a multiparameter technology initially developed for the monitoring of nociception and related pain in anesthetized patients, and its use in the ICU is new.

Purpose: To investigate the safety and efficacy of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in the treatment of postpartum placenta increta and to analyze the influencing factors of intraoperative blood loss and curettage times.

Methods: From January 2016 to December 2018, a retrospective analysis was conducted on 160 patients with placenta increta treated by HIFU combined with (or without) curettage in our hospital. Intraoperative blood loss and the number of curettage procedures were recorded.

Faculté de Pharmacie, Laboratory of Parasitology-Mycology Medical and Molecular, Université de Monastir, LR12ES085000, Monastir, Tunisia.

Culicoides are small hematophagous biting midges belonging to the family Ceratopogonidae. The genus is distributed worldwide yet remains poorly studied. This study investigated the vector and host specificity of Culicoides oxystoma, a species of significant relevance to the surveillance of vector-borne diseases in Tunisia and globally.
