[The historical evolution of Chinese physiology textbooks].

This article systematically reviews the characteristics and trends of the writing, editing, publication and promotion of physiology textbooks in China from the late 19th century to the present, focusing on the introduction, development and innovation of Chinese physiology textbooks. The development of physiology textbooks in China is divided into four main stages: the introduction and initial development of physiology textbooks from the late 19th century to 1925; the localization and diversification of textbooks from 1926 to 1949, after the establishment of the Chinese Physiological Society; the exploratory phase of textbook construction after the founding of the People's Republic of China from 1949 to 1976; the formation and innovation of the textbook development process from 1977 to the present, following the restoration of the college entrance examination. For each phase, the article not only records the historical development of physiology textbooks, but also analyzes the evolution of their content, writing styles and the interaction with the social and political contexts.

Metacognition and facial emotional expressions both play a major role in human social interactions [1, 2] as inner narrative and primary communicational display, and both are limited by self-monitoring, control and their interaction with personal and social reference frames. The study aims to investigate how metacognitive abilities relate to facial emotional expressions, as the inner narrative of a subject might project subconsciously and primes facial emotional expressions in a non-social setting. Subjects were presented online to a set of digitalised short-term memory tasks and attended a screening of artistic and artificial stimuli, where their facial emotional expressions were recorded and analyzed by artificial intelligence.

There is widespread agreement on the potential of multisectoral action to address the social determinants of maternal health. We conducted an implementation research study in Meghalaya, a northeastern Indian state with a high burden of maternal mortality where the government initiated "Rescue Mission" to strengthen the health system and to address underlying determinants to improve maternal health indicators. The initiative was grounded in building state capability and decentralised leadership.

Rare disease prevalence rates are increasing rapidly worldwide, as are the cost of orphan indication drugs used to treat them, posing significant strain on many healthcare systems. In response, a set of tensions have arisen within academic, activist, advocacy, industry, and policy circles over orphan drug pricing. Yet there has to date been no unifying review of the literature engaging critically with these tensions.
