Objectives: To compare optical values in the osteotomy gap created after a tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) treated with autogenous cancellous bone graft, extracorporeal shock wave therapy, a combination of autogenous cancellous bone graft and extracorporeal shock wave therapy, and absence of both autogenous cancellous bone graft and extracorporeal shock wave therapy using densitometry.
Methods: Dogs that were presented for surgical repair of a cranial cruciate ligament rupture were randomly assigned to one of four groups: TTA with autogenous cancellous bone graft (TTA-G), TTA with autogenous cancellous bone graft and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (TTA-GS), TTA with extracorporeal shock wave therapy (TTA-S), and TTA with no additional therapy (TTA-O). Mediolateral radiographs at zero, four and eight weeks after surgery were evaluated to compare healing of the osteotomy gap via densitometry. An analysis of variance was used to compare the densitometric values between groups.
Results: At four weeks after surgery, a significant difference in osteotomy gap density was noted between TTA-GS (8.4 millimetres of aluminium equivalent [mmAleq]) and TTA-S (6.1 mmAleq), and between TTA-GS (8.4 mmAleq) and TTA-O (6.4 mmAleq). There were no significant differences noted between any groups at the eight week re-evaluation.
Clinical Significance: There were no significant differences in the osteotomy gap density at eight weeks after surgery regardless of the treatment modality used. The combination of autogenous cancellous bone graft and extracorporeal shock wave therapy may lead to increased radiographic density of the osteotomy gap in the first four weeks after surgery. Densitometry using an aluminium step wedge is a feasible method for comparison of bone density after TTA in dogs.

Methods: Eighteen male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into a sham operation group, a model group and an EA group, 6 rabbits in each group. Based on the autoimmune theory, MC model was established by embedding autogenous nucleus pulposus in the rabbits of the model group and the EA group, based on autoimmunity.

Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the efficacy of cancellous bovine bone mineral granules and 10% porcine collagen (deproteinized bovine bone mineral with collagen [DBBM-C]; (OCS-B Collagen® [Straumann XenoFlex], NIBEC, Korea) in a mouldable block form, with or without socket seal, using autogenous free gingival graft (FGG).
Methods: Fifty-four patients were included and randomly assigned to one of three groups: (1) spontaneous healing (control group), (2) alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) using DBBM-C (DBBM-C group), and (3) ARP employing DBBM-C sealed with FGG (DBBM-C/FGG group). Bone biopsy and implant fixture placement were performed 180 days after ARP.

Objective: In addition to the surface hemorrhage of cancellous bone after large-area osteotomy, the intramedullary hemorrhage after the reamed knee joint is also a major cause of postoperative bleeding after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of bone wax application at different time points of prone hemorrhage to reduce perioperative blood loss.
Methods: From August 2023 to December 2023, 150 patients undergoing primary unilateral TKA were included in this prospective, randomized controlled trial, patients were randomly divided into three groups: group A, after autogenous osteotomy plug was used to fill the femoral medullary cavity, the residual space was sealed with bone wax and the exposed cancellous bone surface around the prosthesis was coated with bone wax after the prosthesis adhesion; group B, only the exposed cancellous bone surface around the prosthesis was coated with bone wax; and group C, no bone wax was used.
