Improved Conductivity of 2D Perovskite Capping Layer for Realizing High-Performance 3D/2D Heterostructured Hole Transport Layer-Free Perovskite Photovoltaics.

ACS Nano

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Bioinorganic and Synthetic Chemistry of Ministry of Education, LIFM, School of Chemistry, IGCME, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou 510275, China.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as low-cost photovoltaic representatives. Constructing three-dimensional (3D)/two-dimensional (2D) perovskite heterostructures has been shown to effectively enhance the efficiency and stability of PSCs. However, further enhancement of device performance is still largely limited by inferior conductivity of the 2D perovskite capping layer and its mismatched energy level with the 3D perovskite layer.

Gold-silver synergism has been well documented in many scientific works dealing with luminescent nanostructures that are exploitable in biomedical and environmental application. Frequently, the ratio of Au : Ag in synthetic mixtures was varied to influence the extent of Au-Ag synergism of the resulting luminescent gold-silver nanoclusters (GSNCs). However, in our approach, a new step, maturing under differing conditions using the same Au : Ag ratio (5 : 1), has been investigated systematically for the very first time.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the brain and spinal cord with both inflammatory and neurodegenerative features. Although advances in imaging techniques, particularly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), have improved the process of diagnosis, its cause is unknown, a cure remains elusive and the evidence base to guide treatment is lacking. Computational techniques like machine learning (ML) have started to be used to understand MS.

Introduction: Subsea applications recently received increasing attention due to the global expansion of offshore energy, seabed infrastructure, and maritime activities; complex inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks in this domain are regularly solved with pilot-controlled, tethered remote-operated vehicles to reduce the use of human divers. However, collecting and precisely labeling submerged data is challenging due to uncontrollable and harsh environmental factors. As an alternative, synthetic environments offer cost-effective, controlled alternatives to real-world operations, with access to detailed ground-truth data.

Human perception of art in the age of artificial intelligence.

Front Psychol

January 2025

The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour, and Development, Western Sydney University, Penrith, NSW, Australia.

Recent advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rendered image-synthesis models capable of producing complex artworks that appear nearly indistinguishable from human-made works. Here we present a quantitative assessment of human perception and preference for art generated by OpenAI's DALL·E 2, a leading AI tool for art creation. Participants were presented with pairs of artworks, one human-made and one AI-generated, in either a preference-choice task or an origin-discrimination task.
