The Arabian Peninsula (AP) has been reported to experience increasing drought in recent decades. With this background, this study evaluates best performing Climate Model Intercomparison Project 6 (CMIP6) Global Climate Models (GCMs) for historical (1985-2014) simulations and future drought projections across the AP until 2100, using the standardized precipitation index (SPI) and standardized precipitation-evapotranspiration index (SPEI). We assess uncertainties from model differences, scenarios, timescales, and methods.

The purpose of this article is to infer patient level outcomes from population level randomized control trials (RCTs). In this pursuit, we utilize the recently proposed synthetic nearest neighbors (SNN) estimator. At its core, SNN leverages information across patients to impute missing data associated with each patient of interest.

Self-interactive learning: Fusion and evolution of multi-scale histomorphology features for molecular traits prediction in computational pathology.

Electronic address:

Predicting disease-related molecular traits from histomorphology brings great opportunities for precision medicine. Despite the rich information present in histopathological images, extracting fine-grained molecular features from standard whole slide images (WSI) is non-trivial. The task is further complicated by the lack of annotations for subtyping and contextual histomorphological features that might span multiple scales.

Nano-TiO impairs the health of crabs Charybdis japonica under warming conditions through waterborne and dietary exposures.

International Research Center for Marine Biosciences, Shanghai Ocean University, Ministry of Science and Technology, College of Fisheries and Life Science, Shanghai 201306, China; Key Laboratory of Exploration and Utilization of Aquatic Genetic Resources, Ministry of Education, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai 201306, China. Electronic address:

The widespread use of nano titanium dioxide (nano-TiO₂) poses ecological risks to marine ecosystems, especially when combined with ocean warming. However, most previous studies have only examined water-related exposures, leaving a gap in research on the impact of food transfer on organisms. In this work, the harmful impacts of nano-TiO on the Japanese swimming crab Charybdis japonica were studied through three scenarios: direct exposure (DE) of the crabs to warming and nano-TiO, indirect exposure (IE) via consumption of thick-shelled mussels Mytilus coruscus exposed to the same conditions, and combined exposure (CE), where crabs were directly subjected to warming and nano-TiO while feeding affected mussels.

Can We Maintain Muscle Mass on a Plant-Based Diet?

Curr Nutr Rep

January 2025

Department of Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA.

Purpose Of Review: This review aims to determine whether muscle mass and function can be effectively maintained without relying on animal-based protein sources. We evaluate the quality, digestibility, and essential amino acid profiles of plant-based proteins to understand their potential in preventing and managing sarcopenia.

Recent Finding: Recent studies indicate that while animal-based proteins have traditionally been considered the gold standard for supporting muscle protein synthesis, certain plant-based protein blends, fortified with leucine or other essential amino acids, can produce comparable anabolic responses.
