Published: April 2015

The design and experimental realization of a type-II "W"-multiple quantum well heterostructure for emission in the λ > 1.2 m range is presented. The experimental photoluminescence spectra for different excitation intensities are analyzed using microscopic quantum theory. On the basis of the good theory-experiment agreement, the gain properties of the system are computed using the semiconductor Bloch equations. Gain values comparable to those of type-I systems are obtained.

Identification of a 7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin derivatives as selective type II c-Met/Axl inhibitors with potent antitumor efficacy.

Bioorg Chem

Center for Preclinical Safety Evaluation of Drugs, State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, China. Electronic address:

In this study, we reported the discovery of a novel type II c-Met/Axl inhibitor, characterized by using 4-amino-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine as a hinge region binder. Through a systematic exploration of the structure-activity relationship, based on the clinically reported c-Met inhibitor BMS-777607, we identified the optimized compound 22a. 22a exhibited remarkable potency against c-Met and Axl kinases, with IC values of 1 nM and 10 nM, respectively, and demonstrated over 100-fold selectivity to other members of the TAM subfamily.

Department of Hematology and Oncology, National Clinical Research Center for Child Health and Disorders, Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Child Development and Disorders, Chongqing Key Laboratory of Pediatric Metabolism and Inflammatory Diseases, Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, No 136 Zhongshan 2 road, YuZhong district, Chongqing, 400014, China.

Genetic alterations play a pivotal role in leukemic clonal transformation, significantly influencing disease pathogenesis and clinical outcomes. Here, we report a novel fusion gene and investigate its pathogenic role in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). We engineer a transposon transfection system expressing the TOP2B::AFF2 transcript and introduce it into Ba/F3 cells.

Disruption of the mycobacterial redox homeostasis leads to irreversible stress induction and cell death. Hydroquinone scaffolds, as a new type of redox cycling anti-tuberculosis chemotypes, exhibit potent bactericidal activity against non-replicating, nutrient-deprived phenotypically drug-resistant bacteria. Evidences from microbiological, biochemical, and genetic studies indicate that the redox-driven mode of action relies on the reduction of quinones by type II NADH dehydrogenase (NDH2), generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) of bactericidal level.

Background: Thyroid Hormones (THs) critically impact human cancer. Although endowed with both tumor-promoting and inhibiting effects in different cancer types, excess of THs has been linked to enhanced tumor growth and progression. Breast cancer depends on the interaction between bulk tumor cells and the surrounding microenvironment in which mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) exert powerful pro-tumorigenic activities.

DPP4 is an enzyme with multiple natural substrates and probable involvement in various mechanisms. It constitutes a drug target for the treatment of diabetes II, although, also related to other disorders. While a number of drugs with competitive inhibitory action and covalent binding capacity are available, undesired side effects exist partly attributed to drug kinetics, and research for finding novel, potent, and safer compounds continues.
