The Raman characterization results of lunar relevant simulants, including liquid water, ice, and organics using NASA Langley developed standoff ultra-compact micro-Raman (SUCR) sensor are presented. The SUCR sensor is designed as an instrument applicable for future lunar surface operations. The SUCR is equipped to be mounted on a lunar lander's platform or on a rover's robotic arm for close Raman inspection of mixed samples on the lunar surface, including mapping the mineralogy, determining water ice distribution, and identifying frozen volatiles.

Plasmonic Slippery Surface for Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy and Protein Adsorption Inhibition.

Anal Chem

January 2025

Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal 576104, India.

Slippery liquid-infused porous surfaces (SLIPSs) are a class of surface that offers low contact angle hysteresis and low tilt angle for water droplet shedding. This property also endows the surface with pinning-free evaporation, which in turn has been exploited for analyte concentration enrichment for Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopic applications and antibiofouling. Herein, we demonstrate a facile approach for creating SLIPS with low contact angle hysteresis and low tilt angle for water shedding by coating the equal-volume mixture of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and silicone oil.

This study, we synthesized a graphene oxide@BiBTC MOF (GO@BiBTC) photocatalyst using a hydrothermal method. The resulting samples were comprehensively characterized using FT-IR, Raman spectra, XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The photodegradation reaction fits the pseudo-first-order kinetics and the deterioration rate constants () value of BiBTC, GO@BiBTC MOF composites were 0.

This research investigates the microbial inactivation potential of ternary TiO-CuO-chitosan nanocomposites (TCC NCs) applied as surface coatings on cowhide leather. Initially, bare TiO nanoparticles (NPs) and binary TiO-CuO (TC) NCs, with varying CuO NPs content, were prepared using an sol-gel method. These binary TC NCs were then modified with chitosan at varying weight percentages (2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%).

Ce1-xMnxVO4 with Improved Activity for Low-Temperature Catalytic Reduction of NO with NH3.

Chem Asian J

January 2025

Fudan University, Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shanghai Handan Road 220, 200433, Shanghai, CHINA.

Novel Ce1-xMnxVO4 catalysts prepared via modified hydrothermal synthesis were used in selective catalytic reduction of NO using NH3 (NH3-SCR). The Ce1-xMnxVO4 catalysts displayed optimum NO removal efficiency at 250 oC. Physicochemical properties including crystal type, morphology, particle size, elemental composition, BET surface area, chemical bond, and valence state were studied by XRD, TEM, EDS, N2 adsorption-desorption, Raman spectroscopy, and XPS.
