Intraspecific phenotypic variation can be used as a window into the ecological differences among individuals of a species and lead to a better understanding of adaptive evolution. Adaptive traits, such as venom, that play an important ecological role for a species are useful models for understanding the sources of intraspecific variation. Intraspecific studies on front-fanged venomous snakes have offered deeper insights into the diverse mechanisms and adaptations that support the effectiveness of venom across species.

The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that the current purely market-driven approaches to drug discovery and development alone are insufficient to drive equitable access to new therapies either in preparation for, or in response to, pandemics. A new global framework driven by equity is under negotiation at the World Health Organization to support pandemic preparedness and response. Some believe that the global intellectual property (IP) system itself is part of the problem and propose a purely Open Science approach.

Background: Intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) have been documented to occasionally spontaneously regress. However, the mechanism responsible for this occurrence remains speculative.
Methods: We present a case of a Borden II - Cognard IIa+b DAVF involving the superior sagittal sinus (SSS) with bilateral external carotid artery supply that regressed spontaneously.
