Background: Fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus (FT1DM) is a severe subtype of type 1 diabetes characterized by rapid onset, metabolic disturbances, and irreversible insulin secretion failure. Recent studies have suggested associations between FT1DM and certain medications, warranting further investigation.
Objectives: This study aims to analyze drugs associated with an increased risk of FT1DM using the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database.

In Brazil, Visceral Leishmaniases is caused by Leishmania infantum, and domestic dogs are the main reservoirs in its urban transmission cycle. As an alternative to euthanizing dogs, miltefosine has been used to treat canine visceral leishmaniasis since 2016. In this study, we have assessed the efficacy of miltefosine for treating canine visceral leishmaniasis in a new endemic area through follow-up of naturally infected dogs was evaluated.

Purpose: Serum uric acid (SUA) is primarily produced through the hydrolysis of purines in the liver, with its excretion largely handled by the kidneys. Urate transporter 1 (URAT1) inhibitors are known to enhance uric acid elimination via the kidneys, but they also increase the risk of kidney stone formation. Currently, xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitors are the predominant uric-lowering medications on the market.

DRESS (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms) syndrome is a severe systemic drug reaction characterized by a latent period of several weeks following the initiation of drug therapy. Among the most well-known causative agents is allopurinol, commonly prescribed for managing asymptomatic gout. Allopurinol-induced DRESS syndrome is associated with high mortality rates and significant long-term sequelae.
