A simple, low-cost and convenient method was developed for the synthesis of highly luminescent CdSe quantum dots (QDs) in an aqueous medium. Compared with previous methods, this synthesis was carried out in one pot using ascorbic acid (C6H8O6) to replace NaBH4 or N2H4·H2O as a reductant, and selenium dioxide to replace selenium or its other hazardous, expensive and unstable compounds as a precursor. The mechanism of CdSe QDs formation was elucidated. The influence of various experimental variables, including refluxing time, Cd/MSA and Cd/Se molar ratios, on the luminescent properties of the QDs were systematically investigated. X-Ray powder diffraction and transmission electron microscopy characterization indicated that the QDs had a pure cubic zinc-blended structure with a spherical shape.

Quantum dot-polymer composites have the advantages of high luminescent quantum yield (PLQY), narrow emission half-peak full width (FWHM), and tunable emission spectra, and have broad application prospects in display and lighting fields. Research on quantum dots embedded in polymer films and plates has made great progress in both synthesis technology and optical properties. However, due to the shortcomings of quantum dots, such as cadmium selenide (CdSe), indium phosphide (InP), lead halide perovskite (LHP), poor water, oxygen, and light stability, and incapacity for large-scale synthesis, their practical application is still restricted.

The study explore machine learning (ML) techniques to predict temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) spectra in colloidal CdSe nanoplatelets (NPLs), leveraging polynomial regression models trained on experimental data from 85 to 270 K spanning temperatures to forecast PL spectra backward to 0 K and forward to 300 K. 6th-degree polynomial models with Tweedie regression were optimal for band energy ([Formula: see text]) predictions up to 300 K, while 9th-degree models with LassoLars and Linear Regression regressors were suitable for backward predictions to 0 K. For exciton energy ([Formula: see text]), the Lasso model of degree 5 and the Ridge model of degree 4 performed well up to 300 K, while the Tweedie model of degree 2 and Theil-Sen model of degree 2 showed promise for predictions to 0 K.

Novel Dual-Potential Color-Resolved Luminophore Ru(bpy)-Doped CdSe QDs for Bipolar Electrode Electrochemiluminescence Biosensing.

The classical electrochemiluminescence (ECL) reagent Ru(bpy) was first doped into CdSe QDs to prepare novel dual-potential color-resolved luminophore Ru-CdSe QDs. Ru-CdSe QDs emitted a strong red ECL signal at a positive potential with coreactant TPrA and a strong green ECL signal at a negative potential with coreactant KSO. As a proof-of-concept application, this work introduced Ru-CdSe QDs into a dual-channel closed bipolar electrode (CBPE) system to construct an ECL biosensor for simultaneous detection of chloramphenicol (CAP) and kanamycin (KAN).

This study presents a mild, one-pot synthetic approach for the synthesis of multicolor, water soluble, photo luminescent CdS and CdSe quantum dots (QDs). To achieve this goal, cyclic peptides containing cysteine residues are rationally designed and synthesized. Among the peptides tested, those containing two cysteine residues exhibit superior stabilizing properties, ensuring the solubility and long-term stability of the QDs in aqueous solutions for several months.

Superoxide anion (O) is a highly reactive oxygen species (ROS) within tumor cells, and its abnormal concentrations can lead to various diseases such as cancer, inflammation, and premature aging disorders. Here, we obtained a series of bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) systems that can be used for sensitive and specific detection of O by varying the type and reaction time of quantum dots (QDs) and combining them with different concentrations of recombinant aequorin. Among them, the recombinant aequorin-conjugated CdTe/CdSe QDs had the highest conjugation efficiency as the Aeq-QD BRET sensor, which has a remarkable energy transfer efficiency of 35.
