We report a cost-effective transmitter optical sub-assembly using a monolithic four-wavelength vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) array with 100-GHz wavelength spacing for future-proof mobile fronthaul transport using the data rate of common public radio interface option 6. The wavelength spacing is achieved using selectively etched cavity control layers and fine current adjustment. The differences in operating current and output power for maintaining the wavelength spacing of four VCSELs are <1.4 mA and <1 dB, respectively. Stable operation performance without mode hopping is observed, and error-free transmission under direct modulation is demonstrated over a 20-km single-mode fiber without any dispersion-compensation techniques.

Low-frequency transducers are considerably smaller than the wavelength. When multiple low-frequency transducers are closely packed, they couple with the surrounding water and form a transducer-water-transducer coupling structure called multi-element coupled transducers (MCT). This study presents a theoretical model of the MCT based on radiation and mutual radiation theory and analyzes it under multiple resonance frequencies and vibration modes.

An emulsion of silicone oil droplets in aqueous buffer produces a distinctive series of peaks or resonances in the side scatter histogram in a flow cytometer. As many as 12 peaks are observed in the violet-side scatter channel at 405 nm, with half that number observed in the blue side scatter channel at 488 nm. Using the index of refraction of the oil and buffer, the wavelength of light, and the collection angle and gain of the instrument, we assign the peaks to specific diameters at which Mie resonances occur.

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are highly valued for their chemical stability, tunable size, and biocompatibility. Utilizing green chemistry, a microwave-assisted synthesis method was employed to produce water-soluble GQDs from Mangifera Indica leaf extract. This approach is efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly, offering reduced reaction times, energy consumption, and uniform particle sizes, and has proven advantageous over other methods.

We report on the detection and quantification of aqueous DNA by a fluorophore-induced plasmonic current (FIPC) sensing method. FIPC is a mechanism described by our group in the literature where a fluorophore in close proximity to a plasmonically active metal nanoparticle film (MNF) is able to couple with it, when in an excited state. This coupling produces enhanced fluorescent intensity from the fluorophore-MNF complex, and if conditions are met, a current is generated in the film that is intrinsically linked to the properties of the fluorophore in the complex.

In this paper, a direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm for non-circular signal by a large-spacing uniform array with an auxiliary element has been presented. The auxiliary element is placed away from the last element of the large-spacing uniform array. The spacing between arbitrary two elements of the whole array is not limited by the half-wavelength of the signal.
