In high-resolution surface plasmon (SPR) imaging, lateral resolution is limited along the direction of plasmon propagation by the longitudinal decay length. Though SPR systems can achieve sub-micrometer resolution, the decay length causes a degradation in the images in the direction of plasmon propagation akin to a blurring artifact, with ringing along resonant to nonresonant transition edges. We present a method to significantly reduce this effect based on combining images of a sample acquired with distinct guided-mode propagation directions. As SPR is a special case of the class of optical structures known as metal-clad waveguides (MCWG) that are also affected by the decay length, this work is broadly applicable.

Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) are interesting due to their myriad uses in fields such as catalysis and electrochemistry. Their properties are intimately related to their structures, yet structural understanding is difficult to achieve. This work presents a derivation of an approximate expression for the radial distribution function, ().

We have previously found that the presence of an H-type excitonic dimer formed by two fluorophores covalently bound to an oligonucleotide allows the delivery of such a polymer into live cells without inducing toxicity. We are now using time-resolved fluorescence measurements in solution to understand the molecular dynamics of an antisense probe and how pairing with complementary sense strands of various lengths and degrees of complementarity affects the antisense strand's properties. We report that a DNA strand composed of 30 residues and labeled with an H-type excitonic Cyanine-5/Cyanine-5 dimer shows a predominant 1.

This paper presents the initial results of the synthesis of β-GaO luminescent ceramics via plasma gas-thermal spraying synthesis, where low-temperature plasma of an argon and nitrogen mixture was employed. A direct current electric arc generator of high-enthalpy plasma jet with a self-aligning arc length and an expanding channel of an output electrode served as a plasma source. The feedstock material consisted of a polydisperse powder of monocrystalline β-GaO with particle sizes ranging from 5 to 50 μm.

The genus is distributed in the eastern three rivers on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and its adjacent regions, located to the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Its origin and evolution are likely influenced by the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. However, the historical impact of geological events on the divergence and distribution of this fish group has not been fully elucidated.
