Fat injection empirically started 100 years ago to correct contour deformities mainly on the face and breast. The German surgeon Eugene Hollaender (1867-1932) proposed a cocktail of human and ram fat, to avoid reabsorption. Nowadays, fat injection has evolved, and it ranks among the most popular procedures, for it provides the physician with a range of aesthetic and reconstructive clinical applications with regenerative effects on the surrounding tissues. New research from all over the world has demonstrated the role of adipose-derived stem cells, present in the adipose tissue, in the repair of damaged or missing tissues.

Background And Aims: Limited data link manufactured sweeteners impact on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). We aimed to evaluate the effects of manufactured sugars (L-glucose) compared to natural sugars (D-glucose) on phenotype, molecular and metabolic changes in mice models fed with either regular diet (RD) or high fat diet (HFD).
Methods: C57BL/6 mice fed 16-weeks with either RD; 70% carbohydrate or HFD; 60% fat, with or without additional glucose (Glu, at 18% w/v) to drinking tap water at weeks 8-16; of either natural (D-Glu) or manufactured (L-Glu) sugars.

Background And Objective: Muscle fat infiltration (MFI) can be seen in several pathologies of various origin including neuromuscular, endocrinological, or musculoskeletal etiologies. Its evaluation is possible through medical imaging, especially MRI, using qualitative or quantitative methods. This paper is an overview of the techniques used to evaluate MFI in different pathologies.

To investigate the impact of age and gender on mutton flavor and quality, we analyzed mutton from 12-month-old and 6-month-old rams and ewes. The results indicated that 12 months Hetian white sheep exhibited higher levels of amino acids, protein, free fatty acids, and reducing sugars compared to 6-months. Additionally, amino acid, protein, and reducing sugar levels were higher in ewes than 12 months rams.

Background: A major catastrophic adverse event after total joint arthroplasty surgery (TJA) is the periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). In the recent years, regional antibiotic prophylaxis has gained momentum as a novel infection control strategy in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with different purported benefits over systemic administration. The current article was planned to comprehensively review the available evidence in literature; as well as compare the safety and effectiveness of intraosseous (IO) antibiotic prophylaxis with systemic prophylaxis in patients undergoing TJA.

Cellular senescence increases with age and contributes to age-related declines and pathologies. We identified circulating biomarkers of senescence associated with diverse clinical traits in humans to facilitate future non-invasive assessment of individual senescence burden and efficacy testing of novel senotherapeutics. Using a novel nanoparticle-based proteomic workflow, we profiled the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) in monocytes and examined these proteins in plasma samples (N = 1060) from the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging (BLSA).
