In non-magnetic bulk materials, inversion symmetry protects the spin degeneracy. If the bulk crystal structure lacks a centre of inversion, however, spin-orbit interactions lift the spin degeneracy, leading to a Rashba metal whose Fermi surfaces exhibit an intricate spin texture. In superconducting Rashba metals a pairing wavefunction constructed from these complex spin structures will generally contain both singlet and triplet character. Here we examine the possible triplet components of the order parameter in noncentrosymmetric BiPd, combining for the first time in a noncentrosymmetric superconductor macroscopic characterization, atomic-scale ultra-low-temperature scanning tunnelling spectroscopy, and relativistic first-principles calculations. While the superconducting state of BiPd appears topologically trivial, consistent with Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory with an order parameter governed by a single isotropic s-wave gap, we show that the material exhibits Dirac-cone surface states with a helical spin polarization.

The results of an investigation of an impact of the structure of recently synthesized bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide mono- and dicationic ionic liquids on their properties and behavior as lubricants for slippery liquid infused superhydrophobic coatings are presented for a wide temperature range. In this study, a new approach based on monitoring the surface tension of a liquid sessile droplet on top of a coating was exploited for the analysis of the evolution of the coating properties in prolonged contact with the liquid. It was found that the continuous contact with water flow results in slippery property degradation according to two different scenarios.

Building anion-derived solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with enriched LiF is considered the most promising strategy to address inferior safety features and poor cyclability of lithium-metal batteries (LMBs). Herein, we discover that, instead of direct electron transfer from surface polar groups to bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (TFSI) for inducing a LiF-rich SEI, the dipole-induced fluorinated-anion decomposition reaction begins with the adsorption of Li ions and is highly dependent on their mobility on the polar surface. To demonstrate this, a single-layer graphdiyne on MXene (sGDY@MXene) heterostructure has been successfully fabricated and integrated into polypropylene separators.

The widespread concern over nanoplastics (NPs) has prompted extensive research into their environmental impact. Concurrently, the study examined the combined toxicity of PS NPs and cadmium (Cd) on wheat. As indicated by the results of in situ Micro-ATR/FTIR, the aging process of PS NPs (50 nm) led to an increase in carbonyl and hydroxyl groups on their surface, enhancing hydrophilicity and consequently, the adsorption capacity for Cd.

Inverted perovskite solar cells (IPSCs) utilizing nickel oxide (NiO) as hole transport material have made great progress, driven by improvements in materials and interface engineering. However, challenges remain due to the low intrinsic conductivity of NiO and inefficient hole transport. In this study, we introduced MoS nanoparticles at the indium tin oxide (ITO) /NiO interface to enhance the ITO surface and optimize the deposition of NiO, resulting in increased conductivity linked to a ratio of Ni:Ni.
