The prevalence of systolic hypertension phenotypes based on simultaneous 24-h brachial (br) and aortic (ao) ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) remains unknown. We sought to describe their prevalence and associations with hypertension mediated organ damage (HMOD). Participants with 24-h br and ao ABPM, carotid ultrasound and echocardiography data were categorized into 4 systolic hypertension phenotypes: sustained systolic br and ao normotension (SSN), isolated br systolic hypertension (IbrSH), isolated ao systolic hypertension (IaoSH) and sustained br and ao systolic hypertension (SSH).

Heart failure is a complex syndrome characterized by cardiac hypertrophy, fibrosis, and diastolic/systolic dysfunction. These changes share many pathological features with significant inflammatory responses in the myocardium. Among the various regulatory systems that impact on these heterogeneous pathological processes, angiotensin II (Ang II)-activated macrophages play a pivotal role in the induction of subcellular defects and cardiac adverse remodeling during the progression of heart failure.

Purpose: Studies consistently show abnormally high levels of lactate acid in cardiovascular disease patients, suggested that targeting lactate production may serve as potential strategies for the treatment in the future. However, observational results may be subject to residual confounding and bias.
Methods: This study used the dataset from GWAS database to examine confounding in epidemiologic associations between lactate and cardiovascular diseases.

Doxorubicin (DOX) has a limitation in clinical oncology due to its dose-dependent cardiotoxicity. Thiolutin (THL) can undermine DOX-induced cardiomyocyte injury by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome activation, yet the efficacy of THL in DOX-induced cardiotoxicity (DOXIC) needs to be validated in animal models. DOX-induced mice were treated with THL to evaluate the efficacy of THL.

Background And Aims: In patients with symptomatic, obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), it is unclear if response to cardiac myosin inhibition varies with older age or a longer duration of diagnosis. This study evaluated the response of these subgroups to mavacamten therapy for all primary, secondary, and exploratory endpoints in the EXPLORER-HCM trial (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03470545).
