The present report deals with a personal interaction with different external quality assessment (EQA) programmes over the past four decades for different groups of analytes. The effects of national and international legislation and standardization, as well as certification and accreditation standards have also been taken into account. The effects and limitations of reference method procedures and reference materials are also discussed as are the trends in accuracy and precision, the latter especially in terms of automation and decentralization of laboratory analyses. The effects seen are not only positive and, often, legislation and commercial interests are in conflict with the primary aims of EQA and standardization.

Gammarus species are crucial indicators of environmental health, making them important for ecological studies and water quality assessments. They offer a wide range of specific responses regarding the median lethal concentration (LC) of organic compounds. This research presents four predictive models to determine the LC of chemicals impacting selected gammarid amphipods: Gammarus lacustris, Gammarus fasciatus, Gammarus pulex, and Gammarus pseudolimnaeus.

Laboratory-scale spin-coating techniques are widely employed for fabricating small-size, high-efficiency perovskite solar cells. However, achieving large-area, high-uniformity perovskite films and thus high-efficiency solar cell devices remain challenging due to the complex fluid dynamics and drying behaviors of perovskite precursor solutions during large-area fabrication processes. In this work, a high-quality, pinhole-free, large-area FAPbI perovskite film is successfully obtained via scalable blade-coating technology, assisted by a novel bidirectional Marangoni convection strategy.

Motivation plays an important role in the field of medicine, as it significantly influences behavior change, such as becoming more physically active. This study aimed to investigate the role of motivation in engagement in a physical activity and its impact on quality of life for adolescents suffering from obesity. We assessed the time dedicated to physical activities, the type of motivation, and the relationship between those factors and their quality of life.

Background: In the setting of cervical open-door laminoplasty, the question of whether or not every opened laminar level should be instrumented has not been sufficiently investigated. We postulated that the surgical outcomes of open-door laminoplasty with instrumentation of every second opened level (skip-fixation) might not be inferior to those of laminoplasty with instrumentation of every opened level (all-fixation). The purpose of the present study was to test the noninferiority of laminoplasty with skip-fixation in improving myelopathy at 2 years postoperatively compared with all-fixation.
