Objective: The increasing utilization of various molecular tests for diagnosing and selecting treatments for patients with malignancies has led to a rising trend in both the frequency of biopsies and the required tissue volume. We aimed to compare the safety of outpatient ultrasound (US)-guided percutaneous liver biopsy (PLB) between the coaxial method with needle track plugging (NTP) and the conventional method.

Materials And Methods: This single-center, prospective, randomized controlled study was conducted from October 2022 to May 2023.

Department of Medical Ultrasonics, Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Ultrasound, The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, No 58, Zhongshan Er Road, 510080, Guangzhou, P.R. China.

Objective: To compare the diagnostic performance of CEUS-guided biopsy (CEUS-GB) and ultrasound-guided biopsy (US-GB) in evaluating abdominal and pelvic (abdominopelvic) neoplasms in paediatric patients.

Methods: Patients aged < 18 years with abdominopelvic tumours who underwent either CEUS-GB or US-GB between April 2005 and May 2022 were retrospectively evaluated. Tumours diagnosed as malignancies by pathology were considered true-positive findings.

Objective: To investigate the structural alterations, neovascularity, and elasticity of tendons and the relationship between elasticity and the Patient Rated Tennis Elbow Evaluation score after undergoing US-guided fenestration or surgery in patients with chronic lateral elbow tendinopathy.

Methods: Participants from the per-protocol population of a randomized trial conducted between October 2016 and June 2020 were included. The surgery and fenestration groups included 24 (mean age, 50 ± 7 years [standard deviation], 10 men) and 29 (47 ± 8 years, 18 men) participants, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • - Prostatic malakoplakia (PMP) is a rare inflammatory condition that can be misdiagnosed through imaging, leading to unnecessary biopsies; this study aimed to summarize the imaging features of PMP in five patients.
  • - All patients, aged 58 to 74 years, underwent ultrasound-guided prostate biopsies which confirmed PMP and excluded prostate cancer; imaging showed high signal lesions on T1-weighted MRI and abnormal prostate morphology on ultrasound.
  • - While PSA levels, MRI, and ultrasound aren't specific indicators of PMP, a history of co-infections could aid in accurate diagnosis and prevent unnecessary biopsies.
