: Hemoglobin (Hb) is a crucial parameter in perioperative care due to its essential role for oxygen transport and tissue oxygenation. Accurate Hb monitoring allows for timely interventions to address perioperative anemia and, thus, prevent morbidity and mortality. Traditional Hb measurements rely on invasive blood sampling, which significantly contributes to iatrogenic anemia and poses discomfort and increased infection risks.

Background: This study aimed to enhance the scope of neonatal congenital heart disease (CHD) screening by evaluating the effectiveness of training personnel in CHD screening using the "dual-index" method, combining pulse oximetry with cardiac murmur auscultation.

Methods: From 2019 to 2022, a total of 2374 screening personnel from the Xinjiang, Yunnan, Hainan, Fujian, and Anhui provinces underwent training in neonatal CHD screening using the "dual-index" method, which involves pulse oximetry and cardiac murmur auscultation. Pre- and post-training assessments were conducted using a neonatal CHD screening knowledge questionnaire, distributed through the Questionnaire Star platform, to evaluate the impact of the training.

Background: Evidence supports the common incidence of sleep disturbance in opioid use disorder (OUD) as a potential marker of disrupted orexin system functioning. This study evaluated the initial safety and tolerability of a challenge dose of lemborexant, a dual orexin antagonist, as an adjunct to buprenorphine/naloxone.

Methods: Patients (18-65 years old) with OUD receiving sublingual buprenorphine/naloxone, with a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index total score of 6 or higher, were recruited from outpatient clinics.

Despite its extensive utility in these areas, EPR spectroscopy's application within pharmaceutical science has historically been constrained, primarily due to factors such as high equipment costs, a steep learning curve, complex spectral deconvolution and analysis, and a traditional lack of emphasis on single-electron chemistry in pharmaceutical research. This review aims to provide a thorough examination of EPR spectroscopy's applications in analyzing a wide array of para-magnetic species relevant to pharmaceutical research.
