Pentaammine dioxido uranium(VI) dibromide ammonia (1/1), [UO2(NH3)5]Br2·NH3, was synthesized in the form of yellow crystals by the reaction of uranyl bromide, UO2Br2, with dry liquid ammonia. The compound crystallizes orthorhombic in space group Cmcm and is isotypic to [UO2(NH3)5]Cl2·NH3 with a = 13.2499(2), b = 10.5536(1), c = 8.9126(1) Å, V = 1246.29(3) Å(3) and Z = 4 at 123 K. The UO2(2+) cation is coordinated by five ammine ligands and the coordination polyhedron can be best described as pentagonal bipyramid. Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics simulations are reported for [UO2(NH3)5](2+) in the gas phase and in liquid NH3 solution (using the BLYP density functional). According to free-energy simulations, solvation by ammonia has only a small effect on the uranyl-NH3 bond strength.

Urbanization growth has intensified the challenge of managing and treating increasing amounts of municipal solid waste (MSW). Landfills are commonly utilized for MSW disposal because of their low construction and operation costs. However, this practice produces huge volumes of landfill leachate, a highly polluting liquid rich in ammoniacal nitrogen (NH-N), organic compounds, and various heavy metals, making it difficult to treat in conventional municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs).

Understanding the performance and microbial succession in nitrogen removal using fermentation liquid as carbon source can provide a practical basis for treating low C/N ratio wastewater. In this study, three typical fermentation liquids of food waste (FW) enriched with lactic acid (LA), propionic acid (PA), and butyric acid (BA) were added to high ammonia and high salt (HAHS) wastewater treatment process. Results showed that effluent TN decreased from 50 mg/L to around 15 mg/L with the influent concentration around 1000 mg/L after adding fermentation liquid enriched with LA and PA.

L-asparagine is an essential amino acid for cell growth and common constituent of all the proteins. During high temperature food processing it reacts with reducing sugars and leads to acrylamide production through a complex process known as Maillard reaction. L-asparaginase hydrolyses the amine-group of L-asparagine to produce aspartic acid and ammonia.

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is a crucial crop in tropics and subtropics, primarily cultivated for its tuber. However, its foliage is rich in protein and can supply essential elements for ruminants. The objective of this study was to evaluate the phytochemical compounds by Gas chromatography-MS (GC-MS) and the main phenolic by High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) present in cassava foliage, along with the fermentation pattern using a semi-automated gas production (GP) system.

Microbial loss significantly affects wastewater treatment efficiency. This study simulated the inoculation area of a self-developed biological doubling reactor (BDR) to evaluate the retention efficiency of seven different fillers for aerobic denitrifying bacteria. Over 90 days of continuous operation, the porous filler R3 demonstrated excellent performance, with OD values consistently exceeding 1.
