Background: To investigate the prognostic factors in surgically managed patients with stage II non-small cell lung cancer.

Material And Methods: A retrospective analysis of clinical data of surgically managed 93 patients with stage II non-small cell lung cancer in our hospital between May 2005 and November 2009 was conducted, and prognostic factors that may impact the postoperative 5-year survival rate were statistically analyzed.

Results: Univariable survival analysis showed that new TNM staging, total number of dissected lymph nodes, number of dissected N1 and N2 lymph nodes and N1 lymph groups, metastasis rate of N1 lymph nodes, and 10th group of lymph nodes metastatic or not, were related to the postoperative 5-year survival rate in the patients. Multivariable survival analysis showed that the metastasis rate of N1 lymph nodes and 10th group of lymph nodes metastatic or not were independent prognostic factors for the postoperative 5-year survival rate in the patients.

Conclusion: When patients with stage II non-small cell lung cancer are treated with surgery, the total number of dissected lymph nodes greater than 6, the number of dissected N1 lymph nodes over 5, N2 over 2, and the number of dissected N1 groups over 3, may improve their postoperative 5-year survival rate. The metastasis rate of N1 lymph nodes over 50%, and the metastasis of the 10th group of lymph nodes imply poor prognosis of the patients.

Introduction: The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in influencing host health, through the production of metabolites and other key signalling molecules. While the impact of specific metabolites or taxa on host cells is well-documented, the broader impact of a disrupted microbiota on immune homeostasis is less understood, which is particularly important in the context of the increasing overuse of antibiotics.

Methods: Female C57BL/6 mice were gavaged twice daily for four weeks with Vancomycin, Polymyxin B, or PBS (control).

Background: Maintenance immunosuppression is required for suppression of alloimmunity or allograft rejection. However, continuous use of immunosuppressants may lead to various side effects, necessitating the use of alternative immunosuppressive drugs. The early secreted antigenic target of 6 kDa (ESAT-6) is a virulence factor and immunoregulatory protein of mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), which alters host immunity through dually regulating development or activation of various immune cells.

Background: The lymph node ratio (LNR) has been recognized as an emerging prognostic biomarker in various malignant tumors. Our study aimed to investigate the prognostic role of LNR in postoperative patients with lymph node-positive bladder cancer.

Methods: This study comprised a total of 3911 eligible patients diagnosed with lymph node-positive bladder cancer.

Improved diagnosis of small cervical lymph node metastasis using postvascular phase perfluorobutane CEUS in cancer patients.

Background: Accurate identification of small metastatic lymph nodes (LNs) remains a significant challenge with conventional ultrasound (US) due to its limitations in sensitivity for smaller LNs. The use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), especially with perfluorobutane in the postvascular phase of CEUS, may improve the diagnosis of metastatic LNs in cancer patients. We sought to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the postvascular phase of CEUS with perfluorobutane in identifying suspected small cervical LNs in cancer patients.

This retrospective cohort study examined the association between radiotherapy and prognosis in follicular lymphoma (FL) patients, with stratification by age, Ann Arbor stage, primary tumor site, surgical status, and grade. Using data from the SEER database, we employed Cox proportional hazards and competing risk models to assess the impact of radiotherapy on overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in 7,551 FL patients. The association between radiotherapy and second primary cancer (SPC) was explored using Logistic regression model.
