The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of dietary and demographic factors and some habits on the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in 150 dyspeptic patients examined endoscopically and by the urea breath test. Positivity rate was lower (50.6%) in patients consuming honey ≥1 day weekly compared with the remainder (70.8%) and in those consuming green/black tea ≥1 day weekly (45.2%) compared with the other patients (64.8%). Logistic regression confirmed that the factors associated with significantly lower H. pylori positivity rate were the consumption of honey (odds ratio [OR], 0.38; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.19-0.78) and green/black tea (OR, 0.45; 95% CI, 0.21-0.95). In conclusion, honey and green/black tea intake is associated with reduced prevalence of H. pylori infection.

In this study, the impact of various tea preparation techniques on the content of bioactive compounds, antioxidant capacity, antibacterial properties, and polyphenol bioavailability in green, black, and oolong tea infusions was examined. The findings demonstrated that the fermentation process significantly influences the levels of bioactive compounds, with green tea infusions exhibiting the highest, and black tea the lowest, content of phenolic compounds. A positive correlation was observed between the content of the phenolic compound and both antioxidant and antibacterial activities.

The optimization of a new amperometric biosensor for evaluating antioxidant capacity in real samples is reported. The biosensor is based on the immobilization of Laccase from Trametes versicolor on an electropolymerized β-cyclodextrin polymeric membrane on a glassy carbon electrode. The process of electropolymerization, which was successful even in the presence of the enzyme, was a key step in biosensor synthesis.

Aim: To examine the associations of tea consumption (both frequency and type) with (1) prediabetes and diabetes and (2) urinary glucose and sodium excretion in Chinese community-dwelling adults.
Materials And Methods: In 1923 participants (457 with diabetes, 720 with prediabetes, and 746 with normoglycaemia), the frequency (occasional, frequent, daily, or nil) and type (green, black, dark, or other) of tea consumption were assessed using a standardized questionnaire. Morning spot urinary glucose and urine glucose-to-creatinine ratios (UGCRs) were assessed as markers of urinary glucose excretion.
