Background: The functioning of the thyroid gland is a multi-component process that in some conditions may undergo alterations. The thyroid gland is part of the endocrine system that produces the iodine-containing hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine. Thyroid hormones, control metabolism and energy, growth processes, maturation of tissues and organs, regulation of blood flow, and, therefore, providing vital functions of the body.

Radioactive iodine in nuclear waste is increasingly harmful to the human body and the environment because of its strong radioactivity, high fluidity, easy solubility in water, and long half-life. It is very important to find clean and economical materials to recover and fix radioactive iodine. In this paper, the amino-metal-organic framework was covalently modified to obtain composite materials to improve the recycling of iodine in the environment.

Heat stress as a result of global warming has harmful consequences for livestock and is thus becoming an urgent issue for animal husbandry worldwide. Ruminants, growing pigs, and poultry are very susceptible to heat stress because of their fast growth, rapid metabolism, high production levels, and sensitivity to temperature. Heat stress compromises the efficiency of animal husbandry by affecting performance, gastrointestinal health, reproductive physiology, and causing cell damage.

Hormones are secreted by the endocrine glands and reach their targets after circulating in the blood. Many studies have documented that erythrocytes can bind hormones, and possible interactions have been reported. Erythrocytes are responsive to signaling initiated after binding of epinephrine, norepinephrine, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid hormones, parathyroid hormone, and angiotensin.

As an important hallmark of metabolic reprogramming in cancer, a disruption in fatty acid metabolism contributes to tumor proliferation, cell migration and invasion, and other tumor cell behaviors. In recent years, more and more studies have been conducted on fatty acid desaturase 2 (FADS2), the first rate-limiting enzyme for the biosynthesis of polyunsaturated fatty acids. These studies have found that FADS2 is abnormally expressed in cancers of the breast, lung, liver, and esophagus; melanoma; leukemia; and other malignant tumors.
