Background: Facial palsy (FP) is a widespread condition affecting over 3 million people annually, with a complex etiology requiring tailored, multidisciplinary management. Despite advancements, there remains a lack of reliable, automated tools for objective pre- and postoperative assessment, limiting progress in treatment optimization. This study introduces the AI Research Metrics Model (CAARISMA ® ARMM) to evaluate FP severity and outcomes following microsurgical gracilis muscle transfer.

Background: This study investigated the association between photoreceptor structural restoration and visual function outcomes in patients undergoing surgery for closed macular holes (MHs). Using adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (AOSLO) and microperimetry, we aimed to provide a more detailed understanding of photoreceptor recovery and visual improvement in closed MHs.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study of 31 eyes of 28 patients who underwent vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling to treat idiopathic MHs.

Microalgal-bacterial biofilms are a competitive wastewater treatment technology. This study investigated the impact of photoperiod on the characteristics and performance of these biofilms in treating pig farm wastewater. Under continuous lighting (L-24h), we observed optimal NH-N removal efficiency, minimal chlorophyll levels, and peak concentrations of polysaccharides and c-di-GMP.
