Vapor phase transport (VPT) assisted by mixture of methanol and acetone via thermal evaporation of brass (CuZn) was used to prepare un-doped and Al-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures (NSs). The structure and morphology were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). Photoluminescence (PL) properties of un-doped and Al-doped ZnO showed significant changes in the optical properties providing evidence for several types of defects such as zinc interstitials (Zni), oxygen interstitials (Oi), zinc vacancy (Vzn), singly charged zinc vacancy (VZn-), oxygen vacancy (Vo), singly charged oxygen vacancy (Vo+) and oxygen anti-site defects (OZn) in the grown NSs. The Al-doped ZnO NSs have exhibited shifted PL peaks at near band edge (NBE) and red luminescence compared to the un-doped ZnO. The Raman scattering results provided evidence of Al doping into the ZnO NSs due to peak shift from 145 cm-1 to an anomalous peak at 138 cm-1. Presence of enhanced Raman signal at around 274 and 743 cm-1 further confirmed Al in ZnO NSs. The enhanced D and G band in all Al-doped ZnO NSs shows possible functionalization and doping process in ZnO NSs.

This study aims to prepare, characterize, and evaluate zinc oxide nanoscaffolds (ZnO NSs) as a potential anticancer drug that selectively targets malignant cells while remaining non-toxic to normal cells. Electrospun NSs were fabricated and loaded with varying concentrations of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs). The uniform morphology of the fabricated samples was confirmed through Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) imaging.

Chronic refractory wounds have become a serious threat to human health and are characterized by prolonged inflammation, recurrent bacterial infections, and elevated ROS levels. However, current therapeutic strategies usually target a unilateral healing function and are unable to tackle the complexity and sensitivity of chronic refractory wound healing. This study fabricated a biomimetic nanozyme based on rhein (Cu-rhein NSs), which effectively mimics the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) for scavenging various free radicals.

This paper highlights an affordable and straightforward method called chemical bath deposition (CBD) for generating different morphologies of ZnO-based nanostructures. In particular, a specific protocol was found to drive the growth versus a high-yield in-plane symmetric six-arm nanostructure, named a nanostar (NS). Each arm of the star consists of a cluster of parallel wires, creating a subnanostructure with a huge surface-to-volume ratio.

In this work, ZnO nanoplates and FeO nanospindles were successfully fabricated a simple hydrothermal method using inorganic salts as precursors. The ZnO/FeO hybrid was fabricated using a mechanical mixture of two different ZnO : FeO weight ratios to investigate the effect of weight ratio on catalytic properties. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images showed that ZnO nanoplates (NPls) are about 20 nm thick with lateral dimensions of 100 × 200 nm, and FeO nanospindles (NSs) are about 500 nm long and 50 nm wide.

Nitrite ions (NO), as one of the leading type-A inorganic-anion, showing significant-effects in the aquatic environment and also to humans health. Whereas, the higher uptake causes detrimental threat to human health leading to various chronic diseases, thus demanding efficient, reliable and convenient method for its monitoring. For this purpose, in the present research study we have fabricated the mimetic nonozyme like catalyst based colorimetric nitrite sensor.
