Over the past sixty years, telemetry monitoring has become integral to hospital care, offering critical insights into patient health by tracking key indicators like heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Its primary application, continuous electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring, is essential in diverse settings such as emergency departments, step-down units, general wards, and intensive care units for the early detection of cardiac rhythms signaling acute clinical deterioration. Recent advancements in data analytics and machine learning have expanded telemetry's role from observation to prognostication, enabling predictive models that forecast inhospital events indicative of patient instability.

Background: Machine perfusion is a promising strategy for safeguarding liver transplants donated after cardiac death (DCD). In this study, we developed and validated a novel machine perfusion approach for mitigating risk factors and salvaging severe DCD livers.
Methods: A novel hypothermic oxygenated perfusion (HOPE) system was developed, incorporating two pumps and an elastic water sac to emulate the functionality of the cardiac cycle.

Purpose: Hypoxemia is a risk factor for mortality and long-term neuropsychological impairment during severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) is a potential treatment for such cases but may not suffice. We aimed to evaluate the effects of pharmacological interventions for cardiac output (CO) control using ivabradine or beta-blockers for refractory hypoxemia during VV-ECMO.

Background: Diabetes increases ischemic heart injury via incompletely understood mechanisms. We recently reported that diabetic adipocytes-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEV) exacerbate myocardial reperfusion (MI/R) injury by promoting cardiomyocyte apoptosis. Combining in vitro mechanistic investigation and in vivo proof-concept demonstration, we determined the underlying molecular mechanism responsible for diabetic sEV-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis after MI/R.
