Malaria is still an important health problem worldwide, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Turkey, the most common type of malaria is Plasmodium vivax, and endemic regions are South-Eastern Anatolia and Çukurova. Due to globalization and tourism, travel-associated infection due to P. falciparum is also seen more frequently in Turkey. P. falciparum malaria can be highly fatal despite optimal antimalarial treatment. We present a case of falciparum malaria in a Turkish radiologist who went to Africa for occupational reasons and come back with malaria accompanied by uveitis, hyperglycemia, and purpuric rash.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a complex, multisystemic disease and is associated with ocular pathology in 4-12% of patients. In general, ocular disease affects Crohn's patients more frequently than those with ulcerative colitis. Episcleritis and uveitis are the most common presentations, with episcleritis often correlating with IBD flares, whereas uveitis presents independently of IBD activity and, in some cases, may even alert clinicians to a new diagnosis of IBD.

Background: Repository corticotropin injection (RCI) has been suggested to exert immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects in ocular inflammation. The index retrospective study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of subcutaneous RCI in patients with active scleritis or uveitis.
Main Body: Medical records of patients who were diagnosed with different types of active scleritis or uveitis and received RCI for more than six months at a tertiary eye center were reviewed.

Purpose: To investigate the response to Acthar Gel® in patients with moderate to severe sarcoidosis uveitis.
Methods: This is a prospective open-label study that enrolled patients with moderate to severe sarcoidosis uveitis to receive 80 units daily of Acthar Gel for ten days followed by maintenance treatment with 80 units twice weekly. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients meeting at least one of the following variables 1) improved visual acuity, 2) resolution of intraocular inflammation, 3) ability to taper ocular or oral steroids by at least 50% or 4) reduction of cystoid macular edema, with no worsening of any single measure and no need for additional sarcoidosis therapies at 24 weeks.
