Aerobic granules were precipitated internally with magnesium carbonate to enhance their structural stability under shear. The strengthened granules were tested in continuous-flow reactors for 220 days at organic loadings of 6-39 kg/m(3)/day, hydraulic retention times of 0.44-19 h, and temperatures of 10 or 28°C. The carbonate salt had markedly improved the granule strength without significant changes in granule morphology or microbial communities (with persistent strains Streptomyces sp., Rhizobium sp., Brevundimonas sp., and Nitratireductor sp.), or sacrifice in biological activity for organic degradation. MgCO3 precipitated granules could be used in continuous-flow reactor for wastewater treatment at low cost and with easy processing efforts.

Objectives: The aim of this in-vitro study was to evaluate the effects of antacid gastric syrups on the surface roughness and microhardness of restorative dental materials.
Materials And Methods: Three different composite resins, nanohybrid, microhybrid and giomer, and four antacid gastric syrups were used in the study. A total of 150 samples were obtained by preparing 50 (10 mm x 2 mm) disk-shaped samples of each composite type.

Magnesium and calcium carbonate minerals are significant reservoirs of Earth's carbon and understanding their behavior under different conditions is crucial for elucidating the mechanisms of deep carbon storage. Huntite, MgCa(CO), is one of the two stable calcium magnesium carbonate phases, together with dolomite. The distinctive cation coordination environment of Ca atoms compared to calcite-type and dolomite structures makes huntite a comparatively less dense phase.

The importance of pH in stormwater bioretention beds cannot be overstated since it impacts plant and microbial populations and removal of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) from stormwater runoff. This study investigated the effects of dolomite amendment on pH neutralization and subsequent PTE immobilization in bioretention media. To assess dolomite dissolution, pH neutralization, and PTE immobilization, engineered bioretention media was amended with different dolomite ratios and samples of dolomite-amended media were collected from two bioretention beds, one and two months after installation.

Paper-based cultural relics inevitably face a variety of diseases such as acidification, yellowing, and strength loss during long-term preservation, where weakly alkaline inorganic materials play an important role in their deacidification treatments. In this work, by simply adjusting the supersaturation of crystal growing solution without the use of any organic additives, one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) weakly alkaline materials-magnesium carbonate hydrates (MCHs)-were controllably synthesized. It is worth noting that the coatings of 1D/2D MCHs not only cause little change in chromatic aberration and water wettability, but also ensure their safety for alkali-sensitive pigments.
