Med J Armed Forces India

December 2024

Senior Consultant (Neurology), NH MMI Superspeciality, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India.

Background: Endoscopic procedures nowadays are successful, minimally invasive, and safer, with fewer intraoperative and postoperative complications and shorter hospital stays. Kambin's triangle (KT) is the three-dimensional configuration that is used as a transforaminal anatomical corridor for epidural steroid injections and endoscopic surgeries for various lumbar pathologies. This study aims to estimate the dimensions of KT and diameter of the cannula for the transforaminal surgical approaches using KT in the Chhattisgarh population.

Article Synopsis
  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) commonly causes respiratory illnesses, especially severe in adults over 60 or those with chronic conditions; a study examined the cost-effectiveness of the RSVPreF3 vaccine for this age group in the US.* -
  • A multi-cohort Markov model compared outcomes of not vaccinating versus a one-time vaccination, estimating that vaccinating approximately 52.7 million older adults would save nearly 244,424 quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) at a societal cost of about $4.5 billion over five years.* -
  • The analysis indicated that the adjuvanted RSVPreF3 vaccine is cost-effective, with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (

Background: The far-lateral approach, frequently employed by skull base surgeons, targets lesions in the ventrolateral region of the craniovertebral junction (CVJ). Although various incisions can be utilized, the linear incision is notably less invasive and more efficient. Despite its advantages, the literature lacks a comprehensive description of the technical steps involved in this approach.

Background: The purpose of the Accelerating Colorectal Cancer Screening and Follow-up through Implementation Science (ACCSIS) Program, a Cancer Moonshot℠ Initiative, is to support research to build the evidence base on multilevel interventions that increase rates of colorectal cancer screening, follow-up, and referral to care to address disparities in colorectal cancer screening. The National Cancer Institute funded eight Research Projects to implement multilevel interventions to improve colorectal cancer screening among communities who traditionally have been medically underserved. To analyze the impact of ACCSIS across Research Projects, the consortium developed a set of common data elements.
