The following four new species of leafhoppers are described and illustrated: Jikradia dentata n. sp. and J. trispinata n. sp. from Guatemala, J. variabilis n. sp. from Belize, and J. exilis n. sp. from Costa Rica. Jikradia basipendula Nielson and J. krameri Nielson are new records for Guatemala. Belize is a new record for the genus. A record of the first introduction of the genus in the Old World is reviewed. A revised key to the known species is provided with a review of its possible origin. A checklist of all known species is also given.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is commonly treated with intestinal resections that lead to colostomy, which can influence changes in eating habits. This study aimed to analyze energy and nutrient intake, diet quality, and food consumption based on the processing level in CRC patients after colostomy. A prospective study was carried out at three time points (T0-recent colostomy, T1-3 months after colostomy, and T2-6 months after colostomy).

The prognostic value of differentially expressed senescence-related genes(DESRGs) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI) patients is unclear. We used GEO2R to identify DESRGs from GSE60993 and performed functional enrichment analysis. We built an optimal prognostic model with LASSO penalized Cox regression via GSE49925.

Gaming disorder: Neural mechanisms and ongoing debates.

J Behav Addict

January 2025

1Peking University Sixth Hospital, Peking University Institute of Mental Health, NHC Key Laboratory of Mental Health (Peking University), National Clinical Research Center for Mental Disorders (Peking University Sixth Hospital), Beijing, China.

Background And Aims: The inclusion of gaming disorder as a new diagnosis in the 11th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) has caused ongoing debate. This review aimed to summarise the potential neural mechanisms of gaming disorder and provide additional evidence for this debate.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature review of gaming disorder, focusing on studies that investigated its clinical characteristics and neurobiological mechanisms.

Despite their similar nomenclature, Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and "Neurofibromatosis type 2" are discrete and clinically distinguishable entities. The name of "neurofibromatosis type 2" has been changed to NF2-related schwannomatosis, to reflect the fact that neurofibromas do not occur in this syndrome and therefore the name "Neurofibromatosis" is factually incorrect. Furthermore, multiple schwannomas, a hallmark feature of NF2, can also occur in patients with mutations in genes including SMARCB1 and LZTR1, all exhibiting overlapping clinical features.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, USA.

The ability to define neurodegenerative diseases of aging based of biology rather than clinically defined syndromic presentations follows from biomarker development and reflects underlying pathology in living people. The NIA-AA Research Framework (Jack et al 2018 Alzheimers Dement) proposed the biological definition for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and sought to provide a common language to identify and stage research participants, who were not cognitively impaired but had abnormal AD biomarkers; it has been revised. The biological classification of Huntington's disease (Tabrizi et al 2022 Lancet Neurology) included a biological research definition with an integrated staging system, centered on biological, clinical, and functional assessments.
