Background: Sepsis, a critical global health challenge, accounted for approximately 20% of worldwide deaths in 2017. Although the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score standardizes the diagnosis of organ dysfunction, early sepsis detection remains challenging due to its insidious symptoms. Current diagnostic methods, including clinical assessments and laboratory tests, frequently lack the speed and specificity needed for timely intervention, particularly in vulnerable populations such as older adults, intensive care unit (ICU) patients, and those with compromised immune systems.

Background: Schistosoma haematobium is the causative pathogen for urogenital schistosomiasis. To achieve progress towards schistosomiasis elimination, there is a critical need for developing highly sensitive and specific tools to monitor transmission in near-elimination settings. Although antibody detection is a promising approach, it is usually unable to discriminate active infections from past ones.

The increasing reliance on deep neural network-based object detection models in various applications has raised significant security concerns due to their vulnerability to adversarial attacks. In physical 3D environments, existing adversarial attacks that target object detection (3D-AE) face significant challenges. These attacks often require large and dispersed modifications to objects, making them easily noticeable and reducing their effectiveness in real-world scenarios.

Ever since the first large language models (LLMs) have become available, both academics and practitioners have used them to aid software engineering tasks. However, little research as yet has been done in combining search-based software engineering (SBSE) and LLMs. In this paper, we evaluate the use of LLMs as mutation operators for genetic improvement (GI), an SBSE approach, to improve the GI search process.

Objectives: The gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) provocation test is crucial for diagnosing central precocious puberty (CPP). However, due to its invasion and high cost, it is essential to find a simpler biomarker. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of fasting insulin (FINS) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) as potential biomarkers for diagnosing girls with CPP and to analyze their effects on puberty development.
