Aspects of enzymatic catalysis in lipase-catalyzed reactions of organic synthesis are discussed in the review. The data on modern methods of protein engineering and enzyme modification allowing a broader range of used substrates are briefly summarized. The application of lipase in the preparation of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals containing no inactive enantiomers and in the synthesis of secondary alcohol enantiomers and optically active amides is demonstrated. The subject of lipase involvement in the C-C bond formation in the Michael reaction is discussed. Data on the enzymatic synthesis of construction materials--polyesters, siloxanes, etc.--are presented. Examples demonstrating the application of lipase enzymatic catalysis in industry are given.

The wide application of zeolite Y in petrochemical industry is well known as one of the milestones in zeolite chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. However, the traditional organic-free synthesis typically produces (hydro)thermally unstable zeolite Y with Si/Al atomic ratio (SAR) less than 2.5.

Nowadays, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been emerged as an efficient platform for enzyme immobilization due to their high porosity, tunability, and chemical versatility. In this study, a series of hybrid lipase@NKMOF-101-M (M = Mg, Mn, Zn, Co, or Ni) biocatalysts were constructed through a facile in situ encapsulation method, and the encapsulation and immobilization of lipase in MOFs were carefully validated. The catalytic activity of lipase@NKMOF-101-Mn was 2-fold higher than that of lipase@ZIF-8 and 3-fold higher than that of lipase@MCM-41 due to its excellent dispersibility and hydrophobicity in hexane.

Migration characteristics and occurrence forms of redox-sensitive metal(loid)s such as arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), and vanadium (V) remained unclear in dynamic estuarine waters. In this work, size fractionation and chemical speciation of As, Cr, and V in the Jiaomen Waterway (JMW), a tidal river of the Pearl River estuary, were explored based on (ultra)filtration, the diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT) techniques and a thermodynamic chemical equilibrium model. The results showed that As was present mainly in soluble forms in the river water, and the suspended particulate matter (SPM) was identified the major carrier for Cr.

It is imperative to investigate more cost-effective, long-lasting, efficient, and reliable non-noble metal electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in hydrogen production via water splitting. Metal-organic complexes have been extensively researched and utilized for this purpose, yet their transformation in this process remains intriguing and underexplored. To enable a comprehensive comparison, we synthesized three types of metal-organic complexes with varying morphologies using the same raw material.

Previous research has shown that organic food labeling may lead consumers to biased processing of their preferences, the physiological mechanisms behind this phenomenon are not understood. For the first time, this manuscript combines consumer valuation and physiological measures to investigate the explicit and implicit preference dimensions of organic food. The explicit dimension was measured using the expected and actual degree of liking of two identical - but differently labeled - pear juices (organic and non-organic) while the implicit dimension was measured using the activity of the mylohyoid muscle (MM) and the 3D kinematics of the hand, and arm movements.
