Pincer-stabilized nickel(I) complexes readily react with molecular oxygen to form dinuclear 1,2-μ-peroxo-bridged nickel(II) complexes, which are the major components of a dynamic equilibrium with the corresponding mononuclear superoxo species. The peroxo complexes further react with hydrogen peroxide to give the corresponding nickel(II) hydroperoxides. One of these hitherto elusive species was characterized by X-ray diffraction for the first time [O-O bond length: 1.492(2) Å].

Hypochlorous acid(HClO)/hypochlorite ion (ClO-) is a highly reactive oxygen species (ROS) that play a crucial role in various biological processes. In this paper, a "turn-on" phosphorescent probe (Ir-TPP) for detecting ClO- in mitochondria was designed and synthesized. In solution, Ir-TPP is minimal emission due to rapid isomerization of C=N-OH as an efficient non-radiative decay process.

The nonheme iron(II) complexes containing a fluoride anion, Fe(BNPAO)(F) () and [Fe(BNPAOH)(F)(THF)](BF) (), were synthesized and structurally characterized. Addition of dioxygen to either or led to the formation of a fluoride-bridged, dinuclear iron(III) complex [Fe(BNPAO)(F)(μ-F)] (), which was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, H NMR, and elemental analysis. An iron(II)(iodide) complex, Fe(BNPAO)(I) (), was prepared and reacted with O to give the mononuclear complex -Fe(BNPAO)(OH)(I) ().

Carbon-based light addressable potential aptasensor based on the synergy of C-MXene@rGO and OPD@NGQDs for low-density lipoprotein detection.

Mikrochim Acta

December 2024

School of Life and Environmental Sciences, School of Intellectual Property, Guilin University of Electronic Technology, Guilin, Guangxi, 541004, People's Republic of China.

A novel carbon-based light-addressable potentiometric aptasensor (C-LAPS) was constructed for detection low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in serum. Carboxylated TiC MXene @reduced graphene oxide (C-MXene@rGO) was used as interface and o-phenylenediamine functionalized nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (OPD@NGQDs) as the photoelectric conversion element. The photosensitive layers composed of OPD@NGQDs/C-MXene@rGO exhibit superior photoelectric conversion efficiency and excellent biocompatibility, which contribute to an improved response signal.

We are facing a world-wide shortage of clean drinking water which will only be further exacerbated by climate change. The development of reliable and affordable methods for water remediation is thus of utmost importance. Chlorine (which forms active hypochlorites in solution) is the most commonly used disinfectant due to its reliability and low cost.

Improved Methods for the Synthesis of BH and -Heterocycle-Coordinated BH (-Het·BH).

Inorg Chem

December 2024

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Henan Key Laboratory of Boron Chemistry and Advanced Materials, Henan Normal University, Xinxiang, Henan 453007, China.

Improved methods for the synthesis of BH and a series of -heterocycle-coordinated BH complexes (-Het·BH) have been developed with readily obtained KBH as the starting material. Oxidation of KBH could provide BH in over 90% yield. Then, the -Het·BH complexes were prepared from the as-synthesized BH through in situ multistep reactions by reacting with NaH, -heterocycles, and dilute hydrochloric acid.
