Many people accept the idea that time seems to pass more quickly as they get older, as if this is a psychological reality. However, systematic investigations of differences in judgments of passage of time between young and elderly people are very rare and contradictory. The present study examined the experience of passage of time in daily life in young and elderly people using Experience Sampling Methodology (ESM), with 8 alerts per day for 5 days being delivered by smartphones. At each alert, a short questionnaire was filled in, asking questions about passage of present time, affective state, arousal level, and attention to current activities, among others. Our ESM study found no difference between the young and the old participants in the judgment of passage of present time. Irrespective of the participants' age, the experience of passage of time in every-day life was significantly related to affective states and current activities when they captured attention.

Studies in literature discussed the drawbacks of the ureteral access sheath use in flexible ureteroscopy and in the same time mentioned the benefits of ureteral access sheath in decreasing the incidence of urosepsis and better stone free rate. In the current study we aim to compare between percutaneous nephrostomy tube (PCN) insertion before flexible ureteroscopy and conventional ureteral access sheath (UAS) flexible ureteroscopy in terms of safety, efficacy and perioperative outcomes. In all, 100 Patients aged 20 to 67 years with upper ureteric stones and mild hydronephrosis or renal pelvic stones less than 20 mm with mild hydronephrosis were randomized into 2 groups; patients undergoing PCN insertion before flexible ureteroscopy, and patients undergoing the conventional UAS flexible ureteroscopy.

Background: Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is the primary cholesterol and lipid transporting apolipoprotein in the central nervous system (CNS) and is the greatest genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's Disease (AD). There are three main isoforms differing by single amino acid changes: ε3 is "neutral", ε4 is "risk" (Cys112Arg), and ε2 is "resilience" (Arg158Cys). Rare forms (Christchurch, Jacksonville) have also been proposed as resilience alleles, while an ε4-like allele (with Arg61Thr) is present in non-human primates without AD risk.

Multiple far-red light-adapted photosystem I (FR-PSI) reaction centers are recently found to work in oxygenic photosynthesis. They contain a small amount of a new type pigment chlorophyll (Chl ) in addition to the major pigment chlorophyll (Chl ). FR-PSI differs from the conventional PSIs in plants and cyanobacteria, which use only visible light absorbed by Chl , although the mechanism of FR-PSI is not fully clear yet.

This paper deals with the trapping of a particle diffusing in a cylindrical cavity by two circular absorbing spots of arbitrary radii located in the centers of the cavity bases. The focus is on the mean particle lifetime, which is its mean first-passage time to one of the spots. When the spots are small and their radii are well below the cavity radius, this time can be analyzed using the narrow escape (NE) theory, which describes it as a function of the spot radii and the only parameter of the cavity, its volume, independent of the cavity shape and the particle initial position.
