Purpose Low-dose total skin electron beam therapy (LD-TSEBT) has recently gained popularity in treating mycosis fungoides (MF) due to its reduced toxicity and favorable response rates. Combining accelerated LD-TSEBT with the modified Stanford technique (mST), a condensed cycling approach, offers a promising and convenient option. However, in vivo dosimetry data confirming the effectiveness of this approach is limited.

Liquid cell transmission electron microscopy (LCTEM) is a powerful technique for investigating crystallisation dynamics with nanometre spatial resolution. However, probing phenomena occurring in liquids while mixing two precursor solutions has proven extremely challenging, requiring sophisticated liquid cell designs. Here, we demonstrate that introducing and withdrawing solvents in sequence makes it possible to maintain optimal imaging conditions while mixing liquids in a commercial liquid cell.

It is challenging to image structures in liquids for electron microscopy (EM); thus, low-temperature imaging has been developed, initially for aqueous systems. Organic liquids (OLs) are widely used as dispersants, although their cryogenic EM (cryo-EM) imaging is less common than that of aqueous systems. This is because the basic properties (e.

Directed Inward Migration of S-Vacancy in BiS QDs for Selective Photocatalytic CO to CHOH.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

January 2025

College of Materials Science and Engineering, National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Green Processing, Technology of Agricultural and Forestry Biomass, Central South University of Forestry and Technology, Changsha, 410004, China.

The directional migration of S-vacancy is beneficial to the separation of photogenerated carriers and the transition of electrons in semiconductors. In this study, Bi/BiS@carboxylic-cellulose (CC) photocatalyst with bionic chloroplast structure is obtained by electron beam irradiation to induce S-vacancy in BiS@CC. The results of CO photoreduction experiments demonstrate that the reduction rate of CO to CHOH by Bi/BiS@CC-450 samples is 10.

Improved S-bend optical waveguide loss formula verified by experiments.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, University Al Azhar Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Curvature of a dielectric waveguide always leads to attenuation of the mode power as it propagates through the curved region. In single mode guides, bending loss becomes significant as the radius of curvature reduces and is strongly dependent on the confinement of the guided mode, so that weakly guiding waveguides can tolerate only large radii of curvature. In this paper we verify our new theoretical version on power loss prediction of S-bend optical waveguides by using analytical theory based on integration of absorption coefficient and compare it to the experimental measurement of such waveguide bends.
