Purpose. To assess the efficacy and safety of corneal transplantation using corneas from foreign donors. Methods. One hundred and eight patients needing therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty were randomly divided into 2 groups (54 cases/group): foreign group using foreign donor corneas and domestic group using domestic donor corneas. Clinical outcome and incidence of postoperative complications were compared between groups. Results. No significant difference with respect to the therapeutic outcome and postoperative Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA) and neovascularization by final follow-up was observed between the two groups. The graft thickness in the foreign group was statistically higher than the domestic group at 1 month postoperatively, but not at 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively. Corneal endothelial cell density in the domestic group was statistically higher than in the foreign group at 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively. Corneal epithelial abnormalities in the foreign group were significantly higher than that in domestic group. The primary graft failure, incidence of graft survival, and postoperative complications such as immunologic rejection, graft infection, and secondary glaucoma were not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusions. Corneal transplantations using foreign donor corneas are as effective and safe as those using domestic donor corneas.

Import demand elasticity (IDE) is a critical metric often employed to guide government decisions regarding tariffs and non-tariff barriers, ensuring that foreign trade remains uninterrupted while optimizing tax revenues. This study, however, leverages IDE to assess the impact of the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) on Türkiye's decarbonization process. Specifically, the research analyzed the total export quantities and unit prices of four product groups-cement, fertilizers, and inorganic chemicals, steel and iron, and aluminum-exported from Türkiye to the European Union-27 countries under the CBAM framework between 2002 and 2021.

An important psychometric property in educational and psychological testing is differential item functioning (DIF), assessing whether different subgroups respond differently to particular items within a scale, despite having the same overall ability level. In fact, DIF occurs when respondents with the same underlying trait level have different probabilities of selecting specific response categories, depending on their subgroup membership. This study aims to demonstrate the usefulness of rating scale tree (RStree) model in detecting DIF of Likert-type scales across age and gender in social sciences.

In Colombia, LGBTIQ+ identities in the educational field are often considered sensitive and perceived as taboo, which may contribute to their underrepresentation in research. In the English as a foreign language (EFL) field, limited attention has been given to the perspectives and experiences of LGBTIQ+ teachers in schools. As a result, the perceptions and realities faced by this group of stakeholders have been overlooked, creating a gap in research.
