Cardiohemodynamic effects and the beta-blocking action of a new beta-adrenoceptor blocking agent, bopindolol (Sandonorm) were compared with those of pindolol in conscious unrestrained dogs. The intravenous injection of pindolol (3-100 micrograms/kg) increased the heart rate and decreased the total peripheral resistance dose-dependently and markedly, while the same doses of bopindolol had no effect on the heart rate and decreased the total peripheral resistance only at the maximum dose (100 micrograms/kg). These changes were antagonized by propranolol (3 mg/kg). Isoprenaline (isoproterenol, 0.1 microgram/kg)-induced tachycardia was inhibited dose-dependently by both beta-blockers to similar degrees. While the decrease in the total peripheral resistance by isoprenaline was inhibited by pindolol dose-dependently, the inhibition by lower doses of bopindolol was not so marked; the inhibition became greater as the doses of bopindolol were increased. These results indicate that bopindolol is a beta 1-selective beta-blocker with an affinity to this subtype of the beta-adrenoceptor comparable to that of pindolol. Unlike pindolol, it exerted no partial agonist activity at the beta-adrenoceptor. Instead it produced the partial agonist activity at the beta 2-adrenoceptor at the highest dose tested.

Introduction: Manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) is a standard and effective treatment to correct stiffness and improve range of motion (ROM) following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Delayed MUA has been associated with increased rates of revision surgeries and infections. Early MUA has been shown to double the mean gain in flexion compared to delayed interventions.

Fluid biomarkers play important roles in many aspects of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington's disease (HD). However, a main question relates to how well levels of biomarkers measured in CSF are correlated with those measured in peripheral fluids, such as blood or saliva. In this study, we quantified levels of four neurodegenerative disease-related proteins, neurofilament light (NfL), total tau (t-tau), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and YKL-40 in matched CSF, plasma and saliva samples from Huntingtin (HTT) gene-positive individuals (n = 21) using electrochemiluminescence assays.

Objective: To investigate the association between functional parameters of the microcirculation and the systemic cardiovascular system in a population of pregnant women at risk for gestational hypertension disorders.
Study Design: For this observational study, women at high cardiovascular risk according to maternal anthropometrics, obstetric and medical history, were recruited at random gestational age depending on time of referral to the outpatient clinic for high risk prenatal care at Ziekenhuis Oost Limburg, Genk Belgium. After birth, data of maternal and neonatal outcome were obtained from the hospital records: only women with normal pregnancy (n = 142) and with preeclampsia (n = 34) were included in this analysis.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel drug-coated balloon (DCB), Genoss DCB (Genoss) using shellac plus vitamin E as an excipient, compared to a reference DCB using urea.
Materials And Methods: Patients with femoropopliteal arterial disease under Rutherford classes 2-5 were enrolled in this prospective, multicenter, non-inferiority clinical trial, and randomly assigned 1:1 to Genoss DCB and IN.PACT Admiral (Medtronic).
Background And Aims: To estimate the biological variation (BV) for lymphocyte subset counts in healthy adults based on full-spectrum flow cytometry (FS-FCM) and the most commonly used BD Multitest 6-Color TBNK kit in China.
Materials And Methods: The study was designed according to the BV Data Critical Appraisal Checklist (BIVAC). Peripheral blood samples were collected from 60 healthy adults every two weeks for a period of 20 weeks (10 samples from each subject).
