A surgical technique, materials used for abdominal wall reconstruction, and postoperative care are important for patient outcomes. We report the first case of neonate with Cantrell's pentalogy surviving early reconstruction of abdominal, diaphragmal and pericardial defects. Several recent investigations suggest that intraabdominal pressure monitoring may improve outcomes in this patient category.

Introduction: The strategy of adipose component transplantation has been proposed and widely used in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. However, there is no uniform standard for the preparation of component fat, and the volume calculation of liposuction and injection in clinical applications is mostly based on experience. This study aims to analyze the volume of component fat obtained during clinical series.

Depot-specific acetylation profiles of adipose tissues-therapeutic targets for metabolically unhealthy obesity.

Diabetol Metab Syndr

January 2025

The Centre for Cleft Lip and Palate Treatment, Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, 33 Badachu Road, Shijingshan District, Beijing, 100144, People's Republic of China.

Background: Adipose tissue plays a critical role in the development of metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO), with distinct adipose depots demonstrating functional differences. This study aimed to investigate the unique characteristics of subcutaneous (SA) and visceral adipose tissue (VA) in MUO.

Methods: Paired omental VA and abdominal SA samples were obtained from four male patients with MUO and subjected to Four-Dimensional Data Independent Acquisition (4D-DIA) proteomic and lysine acetylation (Kac) analyses.

Background: The effectiveness and preferred reconstruction methods of pancreatectomy associated with vein resection (PAVR) for pancreatic cancer, especially for the extensive portal vein/superior mesenteric vein (PV/SMV) resections (more than 4 cm), are still subjects of debate. The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and feasibility of PAVR by analyzing data from two large institutions from different regions.

Methods: From 2008 to 2018, we identified consecutive series of patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent PAVR at Karolinska University Hospital (KUH), Sweden, and Cancer Institute Hospital, Japanese Foundation of Cancer Research (JFCR), Japan.

Ann Vasc Surg

January 2025

Department of for Cardiovascular Surgery, University Heart Centre Freiburg - Bad Krozingen, University Medical Centre Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany; Faculty of Medicine, Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg, Freiburg, Germany.

Objectives: To report outcomes after the use of the Omniflow II biosynthetic graft (LeMaitre Vascular, Il, USA) for vascular reconstruction in patients with prosthetic infection at the aorto-iliac and femoropopliteal level.

Methods: Within a six-year period, all consecutive patients with aorto-iliac and femoro-popliteal graft infection treated by resection of the infected graft material, extensive local debridement and reconstruction using Omniflow II biosynthetic graft were retrospectively analzyed. Patient characteristics, intraoperative details, postoperative outcomes, and infection details were assessed.
