We report on the combined far-field measurement of the three involuntary eye movements, drift, microsaccades, and ocular microtremor (OMT), using a noncontact far-field optical method. We review the significance of the smallest and least measured, and thus least understood, of the three, OMT. Using modern digital imaging techniques, we perform detailed analysis, present experimental results, and examine the extracted parameters using a noncontact far-field sensor. For the first time, in vivo noncontact measurements of all fixational in-plane movements of the human eye are reported, which simultaneously provide both the horizontal (left-right) and vertical (up-down) displacement results.

Real-time single-molecule detection via fluorescence exhibits advantages of non-contact and specificity, especially in illustrating the dynamic heterogeneity of living substances. However, wide-field view and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are always contradictory in real-time single-molecule detection with fluorescence labels, owing to the limitation of the omnidirectional radiation characteristics of fluorophores. Herein, we propose a nano optical sensing device based on a-SiC heteromorphic immersion nanocavities (aHINCs), enabling wide-field real-time single-molecule imaging without sacrificing SNR.

Electromagnetic scattering is a routine tool for rapid, non-contact characterization of particle media. In previous work, the interaction targets of scattering intensity, scattering efficiency, and extinction efficiency of Bessel pincer light-sheet beams were all aimed at dielectric spheres. However, most particles in nature are charged.

Piezo-Acoustic Resistive Switching Behaviors in High-Performance Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Perovskite Memristors.

Memristors are regarded as promising candidates for breaking the problems including high off-chip memory access delays and the hash rate cost of frequent data moving induced by algorithms for data-intensive applications of existing computational systems. Recently, organic-inorganic halide perovskites (OIHPs) have been recognized as exceptionally favorable materials for memristors due to ease of preparation, excellent electrical conductivity, and structural flexibility. However, research on OIHP-based memristors focuses on modulating resistive switching (RS) performance through electric fields, resulting in difficulties in moving away from complex external circuits and wire connections.

Random Lasing for Bimodal Imaging and Detection of Tumor.

The interaction of light with biological tissues is an intriguing area of research that has led to the development of numerous techniques and technologies. The randomness inherent in biological tissues can trap light through multiple scattering events and provide optical feedback to generate random lasing emission. The emerging random lasing signals carry sensitive information about the scattering dynamics of the medium, which can help in identifying abnormalities in tissues, while simultaneously functioning as an illumination source for imaging.

The ultrasonic actuator can be used in medical applications because it is label-free, biocompatible, and has a demonstrated history of safe operation. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in using an ultrasonic actuator in the non-contact manipulation of micromachines in various materials and sizes for therapeutic applications. This research aims to design, fabricate, and characterize a single-sided transducer array with 56 channels operating at 500 kHz, which provide benefits in the penetration of tissue.
