Background: and are Gram-positive bacteria involved in the development of dental caries, as they are able to form biofilms on tooth enamel, ferment sugars into acids, and survive under acidic conditions. This ultimately leads to a local lowering of the pH value on the tooth surface, which causes enamel cavities.
Hypothesis: One measure to reduce caries is to limit the growth of cariogenic bacteria by using two anti-bacterial agents with different mechanisms of action.

In this work, the HR MAS NMR (high-resolution magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance) spectroscopy technique was combined with standard histological examinations to investigate the metabolic features of high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) with a special focus on the relation between a metabolic profile and a cancer cell fraction. The studied group consisted of 44 patients with HGSOC and 18 patients with benign ovarian tumors. Normal ovarian tissue was also excised from 13 control patients.

The development of recyclable crosslinked thermosetting fibres is a challenging research topic. In the present work, we have designed and synthesized polyurethane fibres from fructose-derived 5-chloromethylfurfural (CMF) and lignin-derived monomeric phenols. The greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production of CMF showed comparable results to that of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), a high potential sugar-based platform molecule.

Understanding mRNA regulation by microRNA (miR) relies on the structural understanding of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). Here, we elucidate the structural organisation of miR-34a, which is de-regulated in various cancers, in human Argonaute-2 (hAgo2), the effector protein in RISC. This analysis employs guanosine-specific isotopic labelling and dynamic nuclear polarisation (DNP)-enhanced Magic Angle Spinning (MAS) NMR.

Islet transplantation has been developed as an effective cell therapy strategy to treat the progressive life-threatening disease Type 1 diabetes (T1DM). To mimic the natural islets and achieve immune isolation, hydrogel encapsulation of multiple islet cell types is the current endeavor. Here, we present a microfiber loading with pancreatic α and β cells by microfluidic spinning for diabetes treatment.
