Magnetotactic bacteria that produce magnetic nanocrystals of uniform size and well-defined morphologies have inspired the use of biomineralization protein Mms6 to promote formation of uniform magnetic nanocrystals in vitro. Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) studies in physiological solutions reveal that Mms6 forms compact globular three-dimensional (3D) micelles (approximately 10 nm in diameter) that are, to a large extent, independent of concentration. In the presence of iron ions in the solutions, the general micellar morphology is preserved, however, with associations among micelles that are induced by iron ions. Compared with Mms6, the m2Mms6 mutant (with the sequence of hydroxyl/carboxyl containing residues in the C-terminal domain shuffled) exhibits subtle morphological changes in the presence of iron ions in solutions. The analysis of the SAXS data is consistent with a hierarchical core-corona micellar structure similar to that found in amphiphilic polymers. The addition of ferric and ferrous iron ions to the protein solution induces morphological changes in the micellar structure by transforming the 3D micelles into objects of reduced dimensionality of 2, with fractal-like characteristics (including Gaussian-chain-like) or, alternatively, platelet-like structures.

At present, it is highly important to develop nanopesticide, which can improve the effect of pesticides and reduce the risks of environmental. Zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) is usually used as a nanocarrier of nanopesticide, which has a porous structure and stimuli-responsive properties. However, the drug loading performance and stability of ZIF are poor.

This study highlights the importance of developing sensitive and selective sensors for use in pharmaceutical applications for the first time. A novel iron(III)-complex, constructed from unsymmetrical tetradentate NNN'O type Schiff base ligand (E)-3-((6-aminopyridin-2-yl)imino)-1-phenyl butane-1-one (LH) and its structure of it characterized by using various spectroscopic techniques such as FT-IR, UV-Vis, elemental analysis, conductivity, magnetic susceptibility measurements and the TGA method. The correlation of all results revealed that the coordination of the (LH) with the metal ion in a molar ratio of 1:1 leads to the formation of an octahedral geometry around the metal ions.

A cationic N-heterocyclic phosphenium (NHP) iron tetracarbonyl complex was synthesised from the free cation and its behaviour towards various anionic reactants studied. Reactions with fluoride, chloride, and hydride sources proceeded under attachment of the anion at phosphorus to yield Fe(CO)-complexes of neutral diazaphospholenes, while bromide and iodide reacted under addition of the anion at the metal and decarbonylation to yield NHP iron halides. Reactions with amides and organometallics were unselective.

A magnetic nano-composite coagulant has been designed, originally applied in a specific industrial waste-water treatment, and statistically investigated using Central Composite Design (CCD). The generated polynomial models were utilized to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the impact of each ingredient of PolyAluminum Chloride (PAC), PolyAcrylAmide (PAM), and Iron (III) oxide magnetic nano particles (MNP) regarding optimum limits and conditions. The concentration of each of those components has been considered as the main effective factors, which are found to be significantly correlated, affecting the Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) removal (%), the Total Suspended Solid (TSS) removal (%), and the Turbidity Reduction Rate (TRR) NTU/min.

Metal ions are essential for all life. In microbial cells, potassium (K) is the most abundant cation and plays a key role in maintaining osmotic balance. Magnesium (Mg) is the dominant divalent cation and is required for nucleic acid structure and as an enzyme cofactor.
