The Use of Perampanel in the Treatment of Lance-Adams Syndrome.

J Epilepsy Res

December 2024

Department of Neurology, Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, USA.

Lance Adams syndrome (LAS) is characterized by chronic action or intention myoclonus resulting from cerebral hypoxia. Perampanel, a non-competitive antagonist of aamino-3-hydroxy-5methyl-4 isooxazoleproprionic acid glutamate receptor, has demonstrated some efficacy in myoclonic epilepsy and other types of myoclonus. We report significant benefit in a patient with LAS treated with add on perampanel and provide a review of the relevant literature.

There is growing interest in lifestyle interventions as stand-alone and add-on therapies in mental health care due to their potential benefits for both physical and mental health outcomes. We evaluated lifestyle interventions focusing on physical activity, diet, and sleep in adults with severe mental illness (SMI) and the evidence for their effectiveness. To this end, we conducted a meta-review and searched major electronic databases for articles published prior to 09/2022 and updated our search in 03/2024.

Introduction: Pentoxifylline (PTX) affects most blood components and the blood vessels, potentially modulating various conditions. Due to its impact on markers linked to COVID-19 severity, research has explored PTX for acute COVID-19. Following the widespread administration of COVID-19 vaccinations, there has been a notable and consistently growing increase in research focusing on long COVID.

Acceleration of ferromagnetic resonance measurements by Bayesian experimental design.

Rev Sci Instrum

October 2024

Materials Science and Engineering Division, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20899, USA.

Ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) is a broadly used dynamical measurement used to characterize a wide range of magnetic materials. Applied research and development on magnetic thin film materials is growing rapidly alongside a growing commercial appetite for magnetic memory and computing technologies. The ability to execute high-quality, fast FMR surveys of magnetic thin films is needed to meet the demanding throughput associated with rapid materials exploration and quality control.

With the rising number of patients receiving chimeric antigen receptor T-cells, the treatment of this therapy's complications is of growing concern to intensivists and neurologists. We used extracorporeal cytokine adsorption as an add-on therapy in a patient suffering from immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome. Interleukin-6 level, which as a readily available parameter is generally used to evaluate course of disease, was rapidly reduced using this method.
