Dipeptidyl peptidase 11 from Porphyromonas gingivalis (PgDPP11) preferentially cleaves substrate peptides with Asp and Glu at the P1 position [NH2-P2-P1(Asp/Glu)-P1'-P2'...]. For crystallographic studies, PgDPP11 was overproduced in Escherichia coli, purified and crystallized using the hanging-drop vapour-diffusion method. X-ray diffraction data to 1.82 Å resolution were collected from an orthorhombic crystal form belonging to space group C2221, with unit-cell parameters a = 99.33, b = 103.60, c = 177.33 Å. Structural analysis by the multi-wavelength anomalous diffraction method is in progress.

The deformation behavior and instabilities occurring during the drawing of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) were investigated using wide- and small-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS and SAXS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in plain HDPE and paraffin wax- and/or chloroform-modified samples. In contrast to neat HDPE, the modified materials demonstrated strongly suppressed cavitation. However, regardless of cavitation, the tensile deformation of all samples was found to be governed by crystallographic mechanisms active in the crystalline lamellae, supported by shear in the amorphous layers, i.

DPP4 is an enzyme with multiple natural substrates and probable involvement in various mechanisms. It constitutes a drug target for the treatment of diabetes II, although, also related to other disorders. While a number of drugs with competitive inhibitory action and covalent binding capacity are available, undesired side effects exist partly attributed to drug kinetics, and research for finding novel, potent, and safer compounds continues.

Laser shock peening (LSP) is an effective method for enhancing the fatigue life and mechanical properties of Ti alloys. However, there is limited research on the effects of LSP on crystal structure and dislocation characteristics. In this study, Ti-6Al-4V alloy was subjected to laser shock peening with varying laser power levels.

In this work, the high cycle fatigue behavior and tensile properties of Ti-Al-Mo-Cr-V-Nb-Zr-Sn titanium alloy at room temperature with a basketweave structure and bimodal structure were studied. The results show that the fatigue strength of the basketweave structure is higher, while the balance of strength and plasticity of the bimodal microstructure is better. However, the fatigue performance of the bimodal microstructure is unstable due to the bilinear phenomenon of the S-N curve.

Cyanobacterial cytochrome c6 (Cyt c6) is crucial for electron transfer between the cytochrome b6f complex and photosystem I (PSI), playing a key role in photosynthesis and enhancing adaptation to extreme environments. This study investigates the high-resolution crystal structures of Cyt c6 from PCC 7942 and PCC 6803, focusing on its dimerization mechanisms and functional implications for photosynthesis. Cyt c6 was expressed in using a dual-plasmid co-expression system and characterized in both oxidized and reduced states.
